For the second part of this article, we’re going to have a look at one of the keyboards we’re going to be showing off at the Office Show – the Matias Folding Keyboard. It’s a Bluetooth keyboard that comes in both wireless Mac and wired PC varieties. I’m going to be having a look at the Mac and iOS version for the UK, the FK304.

The Matias Wireless Folding Keyboard (US variant shown)

Now when you think of a Bluetooth keyboard, you probably think of a cramped and small keyboard, barely larger than your phone’s on-screen keyboard. Not the Matias Folding Keyboard – this is a full layout keyboard, complete with numberpad, meaning you can actually use it to get some work done – Word, Excel, Web, no problem. There’s even a tab key on the numberpad, allowing you to easily enter information in a spreadsheet one handed. And yet, when you fold it in half, it’s easily small enough to pack up into your laptop bag.

The Matias Folding Keyboard is well made and uses high quality rubber dome switches. There’s a good amount of key travel and resistance, reducing long term fatigue and increasing comfort. This also means this is a keyboard you can type quickly and accurately on. The Fn will also allow you to work more efficiently; you can access keys typically found on the right hand side like the arrow keys, page up, page down and delete just using the Fn key and the home row.

As this is a Bluetooth keyboard, it’s compatible with a wide range of mobile devices as well as Macs and Windows PCs, including smartphones and tablets running iOS, Android (from 3.0+ onwards) and Windows Phone. There’s no cables to mess around with, and connecting is quick and simple. You’ll get the full functionality of the main board, and the full range of media keys  – volume up, down and mute, skip back and forth and play and stop – should work on all platforms too.

Now if you were paying attention at the top of the page I mentioned we would be offering some show special discounts. Well the discount on these two Matias product should really get you interested! I’m not sure how the guys have arranged it or how long it will last, but the retail price on both these models is going be slashed by a massive 50%!

So you will be able to order at the show and perhaps for a limited time afterwards, the FK205 for £29.50 and the FK304 at £33.00 (prices exclude VAT and delivery) but remember you have to come and say hi at the event to get the special show prices.

So if you have not already done so, register at as our guest to the show and save the £20 door fee!
