UK Matias Quiet Pro for Mac - FK302Q-UK

It's really quiet.
Mechanical keyboards offer the best performance, but they're noisy - too noisy to use in most offices, or around other people. This is the first one that's quiet. Over two years in the making, it's the only mechanical keyboard that keeps both your fingers and your co-workers happy.

Mac-friendly function keys.
Just like an Apple keyboard, the Quiet Pro's function keys let you control screen brightness, volume, iTunes, and more.
There's even an Fn key, that lets you momentarily change the function keys back to their traditional duties, when you need them.

™ € £ © are easy to find.
Extra handy (but hard to remember) symbols are printed right on the keys. Simply hold down the Option key for the bottom-right characters, or Shift-Option for top-right characters.

Laser etched keys.
All those symbols are handy, but what happens when they wear off? They won't. They're laser etched - burned into the keys with a laser - so they'll never wear off.

Sculpted keytops.
The latest trend in keyboards is to have very flat & wide keys, with little or no space between them. You see this a lot on laptops and netbooks. While they look great, they can also be a little tricky to type on. The flatness makes it very easy to slide out of home row and lose your bearings.
The Quiet Pro bucks this trend. It has traditional sculpted keytops, curved to fit your fingertips, and keep you from sliding out of home position.

3 extra USB 2.0 ports.
Some keyboards have 2 USB ports - most have none. We’re giving you three! You can plug in flash drives, digital cameras, your mouse, and more.

No ghost in this machine.
Most keyboards allow only a few keys to be pressed at once, so they can't keep up with very fast typists. The result is called ghosting - letters missing from what you actually typed, or additional letters that you didn't type.
The Quiet Pro has special Anti-Ghosting Circuitry to eliminate these problems. You can type as fast as you're able; the Quiet Pro will keep up.

UK Matias Quiet Pro for Mac - FK302Q-UK

I much prefer the Tactile Pro but late at night it will wake the kids up. So I now have two; Tactile Pro for daytime and this Quiet Pro for nighttime activities!

Both are very good. I'd never consider a regular non-mechanical keyboard now.

One thing to mention that if you - like me - suffer a little from RSI on the wrist nerves, then definitely go for the full Tactile Pro. The Quiet Pro doesn't quite solve that problem.

This is the first mechanical keyboard I've had in many years so I don't have anything to compare it to.

The keys aren't as tactile as I expected and if this is the quiet version, the standard one must be super noisy.

The keyboard body itself feels like it's made of cheap silver coloured plastic and as another reviewer points out, the unnecesarily long thick usb keyboard is an eyesore.

It's taking me a while to adjust to the smaller keys (my sausage fingers don't help) but I'm going to stick with it, as I suspect it's reliable and it doesn't suffer from interference like the wireless Matias keyboardI tried first.

Good service from The Keyboard Company though.

Excellent: I am already typing faster and more accurately on this keyboard. Some of the letter inversions that I habitually make on a stock Apple keyboard have disappeared using the Matias. It's just more comfortable for me to use this, requiring as it does a longer distance of key travel before registering a touch.

Dealing with the Keyboard Company was a very easy low-friction experience and the packaging was excellent.

Each key shows what you will get with the Alt and Alt-Shift modifiers and this is handy when you want a symbol that you don't often use, such as , ∑ or . There are other ways to find these but none so convenient.

I'd purchased a Matias Quiet Pro before, but my partner had borrowed it and wanted to keep it - so I had to get another! It is a brilliant keyboard, with the advantages of a good mechanical keyboard without the noise. I can type without bothering others, and the key action feels very pleasant to my fingers. One of the best features of the Matias keyboards is their labelling of the various Alt and Shift+Alt characters on the keys - which I find saves me a lot of hunting when I want something unusual.

As usual, The Keyboard Company were superb and a pleasure to order from and the keyboard turned up on time and very well packaged.

I bought this on the advice of a writing friend and a couple of e-mails to the company. I chose the UK Matias Quiet Pro for Mac (FK302Q-UK) after some thought and I am so glad I did. Having learned typing in the 1970s, it was a sheer delight to come back to a mechanical keyboard. It is sturdy - some would say monumental after seeing an Apple keyboard - but it is precisely what I needed. I love the feel of it and have to say my accuracy has improved an incredible amount. All of which means, I am now writing 3k words in a morning with ease. The keyboard is comfortable and I am delighted with it and with the prompt response of the company and the fast delivery. In the past five working mornings, I have written 13,000 plus words. Excellent.

An excellent keyboard. It takes a little getting used to since it's back to the old style with dished keys on a curved board but after a day or so I was flying and I can type so much faster on this than on the new(ish) Apple keyboard it replaced.

Not too loud although it would still stick out in an office I think.

My only gripe really is with the build and general look - it's very solid but the silver finish and thick USB cable doesn't look great. But that doesn't come close to making me regret it - outstanding piece of kit.

Just received my UK Matias quiet pro for Mac and love it. It's just so gorgeously squishy and clicky to type on and I just love the indented key tops which just fit your fingers perfectly. I am a secretary and am amazed at how my typing speed increases when using this keyboard because it responds so quickly. This is my for at home keyboard but I am thinking about treating myself to the PC version to use at work because it makes typing a joy instead of a chore.
