Overview
The New Mini Model M buckling spring keyboard has the same mechanism and feel as the original IBM Model M keyboard and the layout is similar but in a ‘Tenkeyless’ style, without the numberpad.
With the much-loved buckling spring key design these keyboards have been prized by computer enthusiasts and robust typists because of the tactile and auditory feedback of each keystroke.
Manufactured in Lexington, Kentucky, this buckling spring keyboard is a heavy, audible click keyboard with a solid feel reminiscent of the classic IBM Model M keyboard.
Buckling Springs
Buckling springs originated in IBM’s mechanical keyboard as a fundamentally different kind of switch mechanism. Featuring a coil spring that sits between the keycap and a pivoting hammer that collapses when pressed, the spring provides a loud click and tactile feedback.
Model M-Inspired Keycaps
The two-tone white and gray buckling spring keycaps are made of PBT polymer. The dye-sublimated legends compliment the authentic feel and classic design.
Detachable Cable
Like the original IBM Model M, the New Mini Model M has a detachable cable, USB, 6 foot/1.8M long, included in the box.

I’m thrilled with my purchase. For years I could not understand what is was about modern mechanical keyboards that did not resonate with me, and only recently, after a little research discovered it was buckling springs I really missed. The heavy keypress accompanied with a definite click and occasional twang of springs submitting to my will takes me right back to struggling to comprehend code in the late 90s.
I’d really recommend Unicomps Mini Model M for anyone who is looking to capture that feeling of nostalgia, but not willing or able to take the risk of buying a second hand model M and trying to refurbish it.

I have tried several modern keyboards with fancy switches, but nothing beats the typing feeling of the buckling springs for me.
I have used the IBM Model F and M keyboards in the early days of personal computing, and I am glad now I have got this keyboard, which adds also a nice feeling of nostalgia to its great typing experience.

Quite pleased with this buckling spring keyboard and the mini M layout. The quality overall is about right for the price compared to the 2 other options (old or modelf built new) – I have all as a collector but if you just want 1 this is it, also cheapest option in the UK. Will be back here again.

By far the best feeling keyboard I’ve ever used; the sound and feel are amazing. I would 100% recommend this, 100% worth the price. The build quality is amazing, there are no manafacturing defects. I can not emphasize how much I love this keyboard.

This keyboard feels amazing, by far the best keyboard I’ve used. The only complaints I have is that if I boot my computor with the keyboard plugged in it doesn’t recognize it. I have to unplug it and plug it back in, but this could be a problem with Linux. Another thing is that the keys are a bit wobbly, they wiggle from left to right a bit when I press on them. However these problems are not big issues at all, and I would still give the keyboard 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Really happy with this. Actually slightly louder than the older Model Ms – presumably due to slightly different construction, but the mechanism actuates perfectly, feels just like an old M and of course theres no grime or malfunctioning keys to worry about.
Well worth it for the price, although note I only use this for typing – not gaming.

Only received the keyboard today, however I wanted to put my review up as soon as I could if only as an excuse to use this keyboard!
The keyboard is robust and sounds fantastic. It is loud but has a really pleasing sound to it while typing. Excellent for home office use possibly not one for the office!

A top-notch keyboard!
The Buckling Springs feel amazing. The build quality is okay, but not the best in the world.
I do wish the cable was braided for added durability, but that could always be replaced. The way it locks is can also get quite annoying if youre moving from one desktop to the next. I wish they made that easier to remove.
Im just glad we now have a more portable Model M in the line-up which function pretty much like the original SSK. Plus, the keyboard looks better in person!

An excellent keyboard.
Aesthetically this keyboard looks amazing IRL, the photos here and elsewhere don’t do it justice, it needs to be seen to be appreciated.
The switches also feel just perfect, the weighting and tactile response is excellent.
It is a very loud keyboard however, louder than anything I’ve used previously, MX blues for example. I will say that if you want audio feedback from your keyboard, your gonna get it.
Fabulous service from The Keyboard Company.

Only had it for a week now – the buckling springs live up to expectation: very very tactile and a great typing experience. No manufacturing defects apparent.
