Overview
The V1 is a fully customizable mechanical keyboard ready for any situation. It’s a great option to introduce you to the custom keyboard world. With its compact 75% layout, QMK/VIA support, acoustic silicone pad, and double-shot PBT keycaps, the V1 is designed for ultra typing comfort and boost productivity.
This V1 has a frosted black (translucent) case and comes fully assembeled with keycaps and Keychron K Pro Brown switches.
All-Around Customizable Keyboard
To build a fully customizable keyboard, we designed every component to be easily assembled so you can customize and adjust any or every parts the way you want.
Programmable Knob
Designed to enhance your creative workflow, its premium rotary encoder allows you to customize your favorite keys and macros on the knob through the VIA software with ease.
You can easily customize the V1’s knob to your desired key or macro commands like zooming in/out, adjusting screen brightness, brush size, volume, selecting video clips or photos, or backlight hue.
An Epic Core Inside The Keyboard
A brand new powerful ultra-low-power Arm structure MCU armed with 128K Flash will provide more flexibility for developers. The polling rate is up to 1000 Hz out of the box, which makes latency non-existent for the competitive game.
OSA Profile Double-shot PBT Keycaps
For the new double-shot PBT keycaps, we built a new profile. It has a similar height to the OEM profile and has an SA-like shape. We named it the OSA (OEM spherical angled) keycap. The PBT keycaps will provide excellent oil resistance, enhance the type feel, and prevent the legends from fading out.
Switch Layouts Between macOS & Windows
Built with the Mac users experience in mind while still retaining compatibility for Windows devices, the Keychron V1 comes with a system toggle and an additional set of customized keycaps for both Windows and macOS systems. You can now save two different layouts on the keyboard, one for each system.
Program the V1 with QMK & VIA
With full QMK and VIA support, you can easily program and remap each key on the keyboard. The open-source firmware means endless possibilities for keyboard layouts, shortcuts, backlight effects, even the knob, and more.
To get started, please follow these steps: Download the appropriate kemap JSON file below, open VIA, turn on ‘Show Design tab’ on ‘Settings’ tab, drag the JSON file into the ‘Design’ tab on VIA to get the V1 keymap working on VIA.
Since the VIA code for the V1 is still awaiting approval from Github, it is not yet automatically recognized, so you will need to manually download and enter the V1 keymap.
Hot-swappable
The hot-swappable sockets are mounted on the PCB, so you can install or change the switches without soldering. The PCB supports both 3-pin and 5-pin MX mechanical switches.
South-facing RGB LED Lights
The south-facing RGB LED is designed to better illuminate the keyboard backlight from the typist’s angle with the premium non-shine-through PBT keycaps installed. The south-facing RGB is also free from interference when the users install OEM or Cherry-profile alternative keycaps on the keyboard.
Note: The V1’s top case has sharper corners to make it much more compatible with third-party keycaps.
Pre-lubed Keychron K Pro Switch
The optimized molded switch with more precise positioning and less wobble will undoubtedly improve the feel at your fingertips. With the fully assembled V1 version fitted with factory pre-lubricated Keychron K Pro switches, a smoother travel experience is guaranteed for you.
All New Screw-In PCB Stabilizers
The screw-in design increases stability and makes it easier for changes and upgrades. Precise craftsmanship makes the stabilizers more stable and less shaky. The larger keys (space bar, shift, enter, delete) typing experience is now more stable and smooth. The Keychron V1 also supports third-party stabilizers, including Cherry or Durock.

Great board to get if you are interested in doing some mods and making it your own. QMKVIA support is a big selling point for the new Keychron boards.
Stock tactile switches aren’t the best, but passable for most people.
UK ISO keycaps are laser ablated ABS which is a shame given the ANSI models are double-shot PBT, but they look good. They have a soft texture that I personally don’t like, but easy to swap out for something nicer.
There are issues with programming the knob out of the box, but Keychron’s instructions for updating the firmware are simple and worked perfectly.
I think most people would be happy with the stock experience, and the price is good for what you get. Shipping and customer service from The Keyboard Company were top notch as usual, and I will continue to purchase from them.

Absolutely brilliant keyboard for the money. I’ve changed the switches as I found the red ones to be a little sensitive but I’d likely have changed them anyway. Love the keyboard and especially the ViaQMK support as I can configure macros on some keys to assist me in day to day work,

Delighted with my Keychron V1 ISO keyboard! Very easy to set it up with Via and the V1 Keymap. This is my first modern mechanical keyboard (I own original ones from back in the day!). I am impressed with the build quality of the V1. It feels quite satisfying as is. I am looking forward to increased productivity with options to program and customise keys and the knob.
The 75% format suits my purposes very well (I wanted Arrow Keys for detail work and went for Function Keys for added flexibility). I chose brown switches as I love the tactile feedback but didnt want the KB being too loud.
Delivery was quick (despite postal strikes), with helpful communication about the order throughout, great service all around. I would happyily order from KeyboardCo again and recommend! Many thanks!

This is my first mechanical keyboard and I couldn’t be happier. The quality is superb and I feel my productivity has increased since using the V1.
And I love the knob
I’d highly recommend both the Keychron V1 and The Keyboard Co to anyone!
