The best keyboard Ive ever used with a Mac. It makes a little more noise than a non-mechanical keyboard but very quiet when compared to other mechanical keyboards. Excellent product! Also shipped very quickly.

I recently switched from an Apple Magic keyboard to the Matias Quiet Pro for Mac. Ive found the Matias Quiet Pro a lot nicer to type on and theres no way I would switch back. Ive also been very impressed with the service from The Keyboard Company & will definitely look to order from them again in the future.

The Matias Quiet Pro for Mac is my first mechanical keyboard. I read plenty of reviews on different keyboards, but I went with the Matias because of the UK + Mac layout, the relatively quiet keys that ought to be very comfortable to type with and the keyboard’s outstanding build quality. I can safely say that, so far, the keyboard has performed like a dream, and that it really makes a massive difference from what I was used to. My only issue is that the keyboards at work now feel horribly unresponsive…
This keyboard is my first purchase from The Keyboard Company, and I am thoroughly impressed with how quickly and efficiently they handled ordering and shipping, as well as with the packaging.

As a journalist old enough to have learned to touch type on a blind keyboard (that’s a keyboard with the letters and numbers blanked out, for those who have never seen one), I need a keyboard which is fast and responsive. When my last Matias keyboard started to play up (the H got stuck, and either filled in lines of hhhhhhh etc or refused to work at all) and the problem couldn’t be sorted with a thorough and careful clean, I contacted Matias via their online help desk. They were sympathetic and came up with several ideas. None worked, so I ordered a new one and it arrived within 48 hours. I am delighted with the new Quiet Pro for Mac, which is as fast and delightful to use as its predecessor (which, incidentally, I had for nearly five years of constant hard use). The Keyboard Company were a delight to deal with and I can recommend them to any writer who needs a reliable, fast keyboard that works as fast as their mind!

This is my first mechanical keyboard and I am very pleased with it. The tactile (non-clicks) feel is very satisfying for me. The keyboard feels solidly built. Just to manage expectations – this is quiet for a mechanical keyboard but it is not silent (listen to the the sound samples on their site)

I’m an avid fan of mechanical keyboards. I’ve been looking a long time for a good mechanical keyboard to use at my workplace. With the Quiet Pro from Matias, I think I found the one. The look and feel of the keyboard is great, and although the clicks are audible, they shouldn’t be too loud for others.

The support of The Keyboard Company was superb. Fast, competent, friendly replies; overall a pleasure and definitely not my last order from this shop.

I much prefer the Tactile Pro but late at night it will wake the kids up. So I now have two; Tactile Pro for daytime and this Quiet Pro for nighttime activities!

Both are very good. I’d never consider a regular non-mechanical keyboard now.

One thing to mention that if you – like me – suffer a little from RSI on the wrist nerves, then definitely go for the full Tactile Pro. The Quiet Pro doesn’t quite solve that problem.

I bought this on the advice of a writing friend and a couple of e-mails to the company. I chose the UK Matias Quiet Pro for Mac (FK302Q-UK) after some thought and I am so glad I did. Having learned typing in the 1970s, it was a sheer delight to come back to a mechanical keyboard. It is sturdy – some would say monumental after seeing an Apple keyboard – but it is precisely what I needed. I love the feel of it and have to say my accuracy has improved an incredible amount. All of which means, I am now writing 3k words in a morning with ease. The keyboard is comfortable and I am delighted with it and with the prompt response of the company and the fast delivery. In the past five working mornings, I have written 13,000 plus words. Excellent.

I previously owned the corded Apple aluminum keyboard. The keys have gotten imprecise after a couple of years of daily use. I first thought about buying a new one, but then Apple dropped the corded keyboard and switched to the cordless version and also introduced the new mechanics with the extremely low stroke.
So I searched, got into mechanical keyboards (although owning a mid-price Cherry for PC stuff since years) and found out that the Matias Quiet Pro seems to be the only keyboard fulfilling my requirements:
    – corded
    – Mac layout
    – German layout
    – not too loud to not annoy my confcall partners
    – as much Apple special keys as possible (playback, volume control, etc.)

So far, I am happy with it, nevertheless having some remarks regarding the overall quality of the product:
While the quality of the keyboard mechanics itself apparently is high, the case itself seems a bit cheap to me. Maybe I am spoilt by the massive aluminum case of the Apple keyboard, but especially the space between the cursor keys and PgUpPgDn block sounds hollow and one can easily bend the case downwards, even by slightly pushing it.
My experience with silver glossy plastic, e.g. from TV remotes and such, is that it gets worn out quickly. I hope this does not apply to the Quiet Pro.
The manufacturing sticker of my keyboard does not fully stick to the case, I am afraid that I will have to use glue in the future to prevent it from falling off.
This are slight drawbacks when spending such an amount of money for a keyboard.

This is the first mechanical keyboard I’ve had in many years so I don’t have anything to compare it to.

The keys aren’t as tactile as I expected and if this is the quiet version, the standard one must be super noisy.

The keyboard body itself feels like it’s made of cheap silver coloured plastic and as another reviewer points out, the unnecesarily long thick usb keyboard is an eyesore.

It’s taking me a while to adjust to the smaller keys (my sausage fingers don’t help) but I’m going to stick with it, as I suspect it’s reliable and it doesn’t suffer from interference like the wireless Matias keyboardI tried first.

Good service from The Keyboard Company though.

Ive only had this keyboard for a month now but Im really satisfied so far. The rubber bumpers built into each switch result in a feeling that reminds me a little bit of simple rubber dome keyboards; but unlike these, this one gives precise tactile feedback, requires very little force across all keys (including the Return key, even when you hit it on its corners instead of in the middle), and is very fast (at least for my typing speed which is somewhere around 10 characters per second with peaks probably around 15 cps).

My previous setup consisted of a 12 Tactile Pro (which is the loudest keyboard Ive ever owned) and an additional Magic Keyboard for whenever Im in a phone call that I dont want to completely interrupt whenever I have to type something. The Quiet Pro is a very good compromise between the two, and it also has the extra function keys that the Tactile Pro sadly doesnt offer (I guess that it was designed before Apple introduced the function key layout that is now standard across all their keyboards).

An excellent keyboard. It takes a little getting used to since it’s back to the old style with dished keys on a curved board but after a day or so I was flying and I can type so much faster on this than on the new(ish) Apple keyboard it replaced.

Not too loud although it would still stick out in an office I think.

My only gripe really is with the build and general look – it’s very solid but the silver finish and thick USB cable doesn’t look great. But that doesn’t come close to making me regret it – outstanding piece of kit.

One of it’s kind. If you are looking for a mechanical keyboard with Mac plus Nordic layout, this is the only keyboard out there. Because I’m used to MX Blue on the Window side, I would have preferred tactile switches instead of quiet switches but I think my co-workers will appreciate the minimal noise. The tactile feedback is really good regardless, way better than mushy Apple keyboards.

As quiet as a tactile mechanical keyboard can get. Having used both MX Blues and Browns, I needed something that would work with Mac + have Nordic key layout + mechanical + quiet. With all these requirements, in the end it’s only Matias Quiet Pro that fit the bill. Having used it for a week non-stop, I must say that I’m very happy with it. Much quieter vs my previous MX Brown and has a nice feel to it.

Excellent: I am already typing faster and more accurately on this keyboard. Some of the letter inversions that I habitually make on a stock Apple keyboard have disappeared using the Matias. It’s just more comfortable for me to use this, requiring as it does a longer distance of key travel before registering a touch.

Dealing with the Keyboard Company was a very easy low-friction experience and the packaging was excellent.

Each key shows what you will get with the Alt and Alt-Shift modifiers and this is handy when you want a symbol that you don’t often use, such as , ∑ or . There are other ways to find these but none so convenient.

This is my for at home keyboard but I am thinking about treating myself to the PC version to use at work because it makes typing a joy instead of a chore.

I’d purchased a Matias Quiet Pro before, but my partner had borrowed it and wanted to keep it – so I had to get another! It is a brilliant keyboard, with the advantages of a good mechanical keyboard without the noise. I can type without bothering others, and the key action feels very pleasant to my fingers. One of the best features of the Matias keyboards is their labelling of the various Alt and Shift+Alt characters on the keys – which I find saves me a lot of hunting when I want something unusual.

As usual, The Keyboard Company were superb and a pleasure to order from and the keyboard turned up on time and very well packaged.

Overview

It feels amazing.

The Quiet Pro Mac in UK layout uses Matias’ new Quiet Click mechanical keyswitches. They deliver a feel that’s unmatched for comfort – without sacrificing the tactile feedback you need to type really fast.

It’s really quiet.

Mechanical keyboards offer the best performance, but they’re noisy – too noisy to use in most offices, or around other people. This is the first one that’s quiet. Over two years in the making, it’s the only mechanical keyboard that keeps both your fingers and your co-workers happy.

Mac-friendly function keys.

Just like an Apple keyboard, the Quiet Pro’s function keys let you control screen brightness, volume, iTunes, and more.

There’s even an Fn key, that lets you momentarily change the function keys back to their traditional duties, when you need them.

™ € £ © are easy to find.

Extra handy (but hard to remember) symbols are printed right on the keys. Simply hold down the Option key for the bottom-right characters, or Shift-Option for top-right characters.

Laser etched keys.

All those symbols are handy, but what happens when they wear off? They won’t. They’re laser etched – burned into the keys with a laser – so they’ll never wear off.

Sculpted keytops.

The latest trend in keyboards is to have very flat & wide keys, with little or no space between them. You see this a lot on laptops and netbooks. While they look great, they can also be a little tricky to type on. The flatness makes it very easy to slide out of home row and lose your bearings.
The Quiet Pro bucks this trend. It has traditional sculpted keytops, curved to fit your fingertips, and keep you from sliding out of home position.

3 extra USB 2.0 ports.

Some keyboards have 2 USB ports – most have none. We’re giving you three! You can plug in flash drives, digital cameras, your mouse, and more.

No ghost in this machine.

Most keyboards allow only a few keys to be pressed at once, so they can’t keep up with very fast typists. The result is called ghosting – letters missing from what you actually typed, or additional letters that you didn’t type.
The Quiet Pro has special Anti-Ghosting Circuitry to eliminate these problems. You can type as fast as you’re able; the Quiet Pro will keep up.
