Overview

Our keyboard scientists have spent too many years concerned with whether or not they should create various abominations that they never thought to ask if they could – well, no longer! Rest assured that, according to our best research, we absolutely should not have made this, but we can and therefore did.

Switch and Rotary Encoder are NOT included.

With the Uno, I free you all from the tyrannical shackles of even moderate usability! Join with me in one-upping even the snobbiest of stenography-chording keyboard minimalists by reducing the keyboard far beyond any degree of practicality!

Uno V4 (IR) is a single key or encoder keyboard with a built in IR demodulator so you can point a remote control at your computer and make it do things. It has a hot-swap socket for an MX style switch (no soldering required) and mounting holes for a rotary encoder, you can use either the switch or encoder but not both, the encoder will require soldering and one securing pin doesn’t have a solder hole but it can be bent out the way or cut off, it’s not needed.

The keyboard runs on KMK firmware, some programming required.

Pros.

  • One Button
  • Button can be replaced with Rotary Encoder
  • One RGB LED
  • Runs KMK, easy to reprogram
  • Portability allows you to introduce strangers to the hobby
  • No Soldering Required (unless you want the rotary encoder, that requires some soldering)
  • IR Demodulator so you can interface with most remotes
  • Can Hang on a Keychain
  • Based on the RP2040 chip, very fast and capable
  • Comes in USB-A (this one) and USB-C variants

Cons.

  • Only One Button
  • Only has a footprint for One Rotary Encoder
  • Only One RGB LED
  • Spending Time Programming Keyboards is not psychologically healthy
