An excellent solution for multitasking. Switch among them swiftly, and it’s fully compatible with both Mac and Windows. A reliable USB Type-C wired connection is also available when you need it.
QMK/VIA literally means endless possibilities for a fluid workflow. Thanks to our engineering team, it’s the first time in history that a wireless mechanical keyboard has these kinds of capabilities right out of the box. Simply connect the K8 Pro to your device with a cable, drag and drop your favorite keys or macro commands to remap any key you want on any system (macOS, Windows, or Linux). It’s never been so intuitive and flexible to personalize your own keymap. A brand new ultra-low-power Arm Cortex-M4 32-bit STM32L432 MCU which is powerful, and armed with 128K Flash will provide more flexibility for developers.
With full QMK and VIA support, you can easily program and remap each key on the keyboard. The open-source firmware means endless possibilities for keyboard layouts, shortcuts, backlight effects and more.
To get started, please follow these steps: Download the appropriate kemap JSON file below, open VIA, turn on ‘Show Design tab’ on ‘Settings’ tab, drag the JSON file into the ‘Design’ tab on VIA to get the K8Pro keymap working on VIA.
Since the VIA code for the K8 Pro is still awaiting approval from Github, it is not yet automatically recognized, so you will need to manually download and enter the K8 Pro keymap.
The K8 Pro has been re-engineered and redesigned from the inside out to upgrade the typing experience. The added sound-absorbing foam, a thick silicone dampening bottom pad, and steel plate provide responsive feedback and a peaceful typing sound, while added weight will enhance the stability when the K8 Pro lay on the desk.
Offers a Mac layout while still being compatible with Windows, the K8 Pro is one of the few on the market that has the same multimedia and function key functions as Apple keyboards for Mac users, but with more tactile feedback. You can even configure different keymaps for both Mac and Windows devices. While VIA software is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux. Includes keycaps for both macOS and Windows (4 keycaps for each) to allow you to switch between operating systems with ease.
Every detail matters for a personalized typing experience, that’s why we give you the power. You can hot-swap every switch on the K8 Pro with almost all of the 3pin and 5pin MX style mechanical switches on the market (including Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Panda, etc.) without soldering required. You can customize your own typing experience in seconds.
Even small part matters for your fingertip feel. We’ve integrated the PCB-mounted screw-in stabilizers for a smoother typing experience with less wobbliness on the big keys such as space bar, shift, enter, and delete. You can even customize it with alternative stabilizers such as Cherry or Durock.
The renowned Gateron G Pro switch comes with an optimized mold, more precise positioning, less wobbliness, and factory pre-lube will certainly improve your fingertip feel. A smooth travel experience is guaranteed with up to 50 million keystroke lifespan.
To further leverage your typing experience, the K8 Pro ISO version comes with our unique OSA profile (OEM profile with spherical angle) and ABS keycaps that aim to provide a more comfortable fingertip feel and a fantastic backlight shine-through effect.
The south-facing white LED’s are designed to better illuminate the keyboard backlight from the typist’s angle. The south-facing white LED’s are also free from interference when the user installs Cherry-profile alternative keycaps on their keyboard. Comes with more than 13 types of white backlight settings as well as a static white backlight option. You can further fine-tune the brightness and effect speed with ease.
Three levels of adjustable typing angle (0, 6 & 9 degrees), an inclined bottom frame, and curved OSA-profile keycaps are all working together to provide long-lasting ergonomic support for your wrist.

I do really enjoy my Keychron K8 Pro. The Gateron Red switches are smooth and satisfying to use, love the rounded key profile very much, feels nice and sounds quite satisfying to me (not a hardcore keyboard guy).
So far zero issues connecting to Bluetooth to my Lenovo T14 (MediaTek RZ616, Windows), it’s perfectly reliable and I’ve not noticed any lag. However, if I do have my headphones (Bose 700) connected as well there can be occasional audio artifacts when I’m typing away which is a bit sad. I do wish it had a dongle.
The frame of this keyboard is shallow and a little odd in that you can clearly see the white switches along the bottom row of keys. This is a little annoying, but I’ll get over it.
Personally I wasn’t too bothered about lighting, am happy that Keyboard Co have the white backlit version rather than the RGB. I expected to have the backlight off, but actually some of the effects are pretty fun!
Overall I am very pleased with this keyboard, and going back to my old Filco Majestouch Ninja with MX Browns feels scratchy and horrible.

Trying to find any UK ISO mech was a nightmare and Keyboard Co was the only one that had a good selection in stock (and the one I eventually picked).
Firstly Keyboard Co had the best price and delivered it swiftly. Well happy.
The board: I’ve had a Rii wired mech board before (about £40) just to get a taster. It had blue gaterons and was way too loud. I actually resoldered red linears into it, and still ended up binning it cos it wasn’t nice at all. It put me off mechs.
Wanted to treat myself for a new IT job and thought I’d invest in a decent mech to see what all the fuss is about. I now understand the hype!
The sound it makes is addictive. The volume is also perfectly acceptable (unless you’re in a library), and if you touch type accurately you can effectively make no noise at all, because the button presses register with barely any touch-travel. The switches (linear reds) are a bit too light and smooth for me but they’re hot swappable so I might try browns. Although the board is plastic, the build quality is lovely and the weight behind it makes it feel like it’ll last decades. It kinda reminds me of the stuff Sony used to make in the 90s, and that’s a great achievement.
I think this board is the perfect balance of the product range. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t, as long as you’re not a spreadsheet person.

ADDENDUM: You CAN buy the UK RGB version of the K8 Pro. It’s K8P-H2-UK for RGB only and K8P-J3-UK for the aluminium version (though your choice of switch might not be always available).

If you’re looking to buy the K8 Pro you have some choices to make:
Big or small enter key?
What switch do you like?
Aluminium or not?
White Backlit or RGB?
Here are a few thoughts that may help buyers:
In case you’re wondering, what you’re seeing above is the Mac version and you do get Windows keys provided to swap around. It also it looks like the and @ have been swapped around but they’re not.
The three keys to the top far left are:
Printscreen – works as normal
Microphone – used to bring up Cortana apparently but seems to do nothing now
Break has been replaced with a key that adjusts the keyboard’s lighting style.
All three can be remapped with VIA apparently but as the default setup is fine for me, I haven’t tried.
This is the White Backlit version. I somehow overlooked this detail and find the white a bit cold. In retrospect I would have preferred the RGB version. However it’s not available on this website, only for the basic K8 which isn’t hot-swappable, so you win some and lose some. I can adjust the brightness and turn the back light off entirely depending on how I feel.
I’ve just had a go typing on my old, cheap Cherry MX blue keyboard and the difference is clear – this one is much better!

This is such a great keyboard; I bought it to use at a new job doing programming and wanted something better than my old membrane keyboard, and wasn’t too excited over the Logitech mechanical options for productivty (namely price).
QMKVIA is amazing, I’ve used it to rebind a few keys and add additonal Fn options; little tip you can assign F13-F24 and use them for single key shortcuts in apps without having to bother with macros!
In fact, this keyboard was so fun and nice to use I ordered a second (the aluminium wrapped version) for home which I use for a mix of programming AND gaming; you can keep it on wireless for most things or casual games and just go wired for competitive games.

I bought this to switch between wired on my personal Windows PC and bluetooth on my work Mac Pro.
I was concerned about potential issues with bluetooth reliability, drop outs, connectivity etc… but can say that with the latest bluetooth and keyboard firmwares, it’s been perfect. I can seamlessly switch between the two devices and the dedicated WindowsMac mode slider is a fantastic addition.
My only gripe is that the board is tall and will require a wrist wrest, otherwise it gets tiring. I wish it was a little flatter, like my existing Filco Majestouch 2.
Other than that, fantastic board and happy with the brown switches as an all rounder.

As a US-based ISO user, I also appreciate thekeyboardco, have been coming back for many years at this point.

Having been a Filco user for a few users, this was an interesting upgrade. The brown switches feel slightly different compared to the Filco browns but still familiar and comfortable. The keycaps are again a different finish – they feel a little more grippy which is not unpleasant.
The main reason for the upgrade has been to try the QMK/VIA functionality, and this has worked really well for my use case, to assign macros to keys for lengthy commands.
Overall, an excellent upgrade and great service from KeyboardCo as always.

Brilliant keyboard with good functionality and high quality feel. The main feature that makes me gives this keyboard 5 stars, is that the keys are placed perfectly to minimise typos and encourage fast & accurate typing.
I am new to the compact form factor, but this has advantages of a smaller footprint allowing more space on desk.
I am generally pleased with the K8 Pro, I use it as a multi -device for a Mac & PC.

I’m really satisfied with the keyboard – it is built great, looks sexy and i love the sound of the gateron blue switches.
I would have preferred the aluminium framed version as I’m not a big fan of seeing the base of the keycaps but it’s my fault for not knowing that prior to buying.
The delivery was quick and the service (from Helen) has been incredible.
If you’re not interested in this keyboard, you should undoubtedly buy from this company.

This is my second Keychron keyboard – nothing wrong with the first one I hasten to add – just it was so good I fancied an upgrade! And it’s a thing of beauty. Solidly made, the perfect size and stops me hitting the page up and end keys by mnistake (the Keychron K2 is a compressed layout which can lead to mis-keying if you’re ham fisted like me).
I also made a point of buying from the Keyboard Company again – Great price, great service and a free beermat – what’s not to love.
If you’re looking to dip your toe in the mechanical keyboard water then a keychron from the keyboard company will noit disappoint

Considering I spend over 8 hours a day typing, coding, gaming, I honestly don’t know why it has taken me so long to invest it a quality keyboard! The Keychron K8 Pro is my entry into high-end keyboards, and wow! Just WOW! The Gateron brown switches are beautiful and smooth with just the right feedback without a load click. The keycaps are great and feel good when typing. The build quality of the aluminium body is excellent. I really can fault this keyboard.
I’d also like to say that the team at Keyboard Co are brilliant… I messed up my order, but they quickly resolved it so that I would still receive my order the next day.
I’d highly recommend both the Keychron K8 Pro and The Keyboard Co to anyone!

I really like the Keychron K8 Pro. It’s solid and heaby. Nice to have Bluetooth and it sounds great .. although it isn’t quiet. The strike of the keys is quite loud but the thock sound is nice. I’m a lawyer by trade and use it at home. It might be too noisy in the open plan office. Great service and speedy delivery from The Keyboard Company.

Very happy with my new Keychron K8 Pro, it’s a very nice prebuilt keyboard that works well with my home Windows PC and work MBP. Also very fast service from Keyboard Co, highly recommended!
