Simply connect the K8 Pro to your device with a cable, drag and drop your favorite keys or macro commands to remap any key you want on any system (macOS, Windows, or Linux). It’s never been so intuitive and flexible to personalize your own keymap. A brand new ultra-low-power Arm Cortex-M4 32-bit STM32L432 MCU which is powerful, and armed with 128K Flash will provide more flexibility for developers.
Program the K8 Pro with QMK & VIA
With full QMK and VIA support, you can easily program and remap each key on the keyboard. The open-source firmware means endless possibilities for keyboard layouts, shortcuts, backlight effects and more.
To get started, please follow these steps: Download the appropriate kemap JSON file below, open VIA, turn on ‘Show Design tab’ on ‘Settings’ tab, drag the JSON file into the ‘Design’ tab on VIA to get the K8Pro keymap working on VIA.
Since the VIA code for the K8 Pro is still awaiting approval from Github, it is not yet automatically recognized, so you will need to manually download and enter the K8 Pro keymap.
Upgraded Typing Experience
The K8 Pro has been re-engineered and redesigned from the inside out to upgrade the typing experience. The added sound-absorbing foam, a thick silicone dampening bottom pad, and steel plate provide responsive feedback and a peaceful typing sound, while added weight will enhance the stability when the K8 Pro lay on the desk.
Suitable For All Devices
Offers a Mac layout while still being compatible with Windows, the K8 Pro is one of the few on the market that has the same multimedia and function key functions as Apple keyboards for Mac users, but with more tactile feedback. You can even configure different keymaps for both Mac and Windows devices. While VIA software is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux. Includes keycaps for both macOS and Windows (4 keycaps for each) to allow you to switch between operating systems with ease.

Switch Type: Without Switches Layout: UK/ISO Barebone
Great keyboard, really good build quality and surprisingly heavy for a plastic case. Suits my needs from a wireless perspective perfectly and while I can solder the joy of just pushing switches in and being able to hotswap a faulty one out in about 10 seconds was very much appreciated.
Keyboard Company flawless as ever, we are blessed in the UK to have such a great supplier.

Purchased Keychron K8 Barebones.
Excellent quality keyboard and really pleased with the product.
There is a good quality aluminium plate and also some foam padding albeit in a plastic case. It still feels great quality.
The keyboard also comes with pre-lubed, screw-in stablilisers which are okay. I haven’t bothered lubricating them myself as I’m quite happy with them.
I haven’t modded this board. Paired with Gateron Milky Yellow Pro switches (hand lubed with Krytox 205g0) and some cheap PBT caps from Amazon whilst I wait for the GMK Dots to arrive.
Great service from Keyboardco. Could not have been better!

Excellent barebones kit to build upon. At first, I built it with the gateron brown switches and stock Keychron keycaps from my Keychron Q6, while I waited to decide on what setup I was going with.
Even stock, the board sounded and felt very nice, even if it doesn’t weigh as much as more premium keyboards since it feature a plastic case. The factory-lubricated stabilisers it comes with are fine, however you will get more value out of them if you take the time to clean them up, do the holee mod (there’s plenty of tutorials on youtube on this) and lubricate them yourself with some Krytox 205g0 – I did just that and realistically, you shouldn’t need to buy third party stabilisers if you go down this route, unless you really like some other third party alternative.
The silicone padding at the bottom of the case adds quite a bit of weight and helps to improve the sound of the board. In terms of modifications I just added a sheet of 2mm EVA foam over the silicone padding and 3 layers of masking tape on the back of the PCB, but these modifications are completely optional.
Also, great service from the Keyboard Company as usual!

Switch Type: Hot-swap Gateron Brown Layout: United Kingdom
My first keychron board, and I’m very impressed, the build quailty is excellent, and the foam damping, and the pre-lubed brown switches are quiet, but still have a satisfactory clickyness, my only complaint would be that the feedback of the tactile switches could be more pronouced to me it seems very mild, but with the highly customisable nature of the keyboard, this is more of a nitpick than anything else as the switches and caps can be replaced.

My existing mechanical keyboards are too rattly for use in a shared office so I ordered this Keychron K8 Pro (brown switches) which promised to have better noise control – and it has! I am very happy with the build quality, feel, sound and features. Plus, it looks great in a striking colour scheme with the main typing keys in blue-grey and the ancillary keys in charcoal grey – and a salmon coloured ESC key as a little extra flourish! I wasn’t really looking for illumination, but it’s nice to have with plenty of different colour schemes.
As always, the team at Keyboard Co were helpful with my pre-order questions and efficient with dispatch.

I’ve been using my K8 Pro for a week now. I have several other keyboards and this is one of my favourites.
The RGB lighting looks nice for 2 minutes but is usually switched off. It has a steady on mode that uses a soft red, which I use if working or playing games in dim light.
I use the cabled mode to my gaming PC and the Bluetooth during the day with my ThinkPad. Both work extremely well with no noticeable lag when using with Bluetooth.
The keyboard came with a full International ISO Mac layout and all the keys needed to convert to ISO UK layout for use with Windows or Linux. I use an old Keychron K1 with an iPad when travelling and nice to know I could switch over to this one if ever I wanted to.
Overall for the price I am happy with it, at over £100 it’s certainly not cheap but the build quality is good and the only nitpick is that my F12 key was printed upside down! It doesn’t affect functionality at all so I can’t be bothered to seek a remedy, but might upset some people who like things to be ‘correct’.

Not my first mechanical by a long way. This replaces a K6 as my desktop keyboard. Didn’t want to go back to wired only (before the K6 I was using an ALPS wired), being able to switch between 4 devices I find highly useful.
Glad this has the remappable keys as otherwise it would be useless to me. I bought it mainly to get one touch function keys (and delete key), I had to change the mapping to get function keys primary with media controls secondary(on Mac).
Its a brick of a keyboard, so don’t consider if you want potability but the heft gives it a nicer feel on the desk and its quieter than the K6 (with the same keys). The space bar was a bit noisy to begin with and following some posts on line, I put some foam into the space bar keycap which has helped it be more similar to the rest of the board.
Thanks to the reprogrammable nature its easier to have the backlight do something sensible (on the K6 its a pain, always going on and off by accident and ending on silly moving patterns)
So far the best Keychron board I have tried and I recommend it unless you want to move it around a lot.

Fantastic keyboard and seller.
The K8 pro was an upgrade to my K8 and well worth it, matched it with some Boba U4Tx switches and its whisper quiet and a quiet yet satisfying thump on keystrokes

I originally wanted a Keychron K3, other stores didn’t have the model I wanted, a quick search led me here where I K8 Pro caught my eye. Several Youtube reviews later, I pulled the trigger on one. I’m really glad I did. I’m no expert on mech keyboards but with the K8 Pro, I can kind of understand why some people spend relative fortunes on them. It’s fantastic to type on and very versatile, probably a bit too much for my needs but at this price, who cares.
Great service with excellent communication, I would recommend The Keyboard Company to anyone.
