X87 Capacitive 45gf Bluetooth Programmable Tenkeyless Keyboard - NIZ87-051

The X87 uses 45g Electro Capacitive switching similar to Topre switching but with the addition of being compatible with Cherry MX keycaps. Also included are 40+ additional 10g/20g springs that can be added under a keycap to increase the switch weight.

The keycaps are white and grey PBT with black legends, the layout is programmable and by the Esc key is an on/off switch.

The X87 come configured for PC but includes 4 Mac keycaps, 2 x Alt/Opt and 2 x CMD and a keypuller to help replace them.

Included is a detachable USB C to standard USB A white braided cable, this plugs in under the keyboard, a wire keypuller, 4 Mac keys for Mac mode, some replacement stabilizers (Filco style), 2 replacement switch plungers, an assembled switch to add to your keyring and a dedicated USB transceiver.

The dedicated USB transceiver should work with this keyboard on any device that supports the USB-HID keyboard protocol (standard USB keyboard protocol), Bluetooth support is not needed, WinXP, Win7, Win8, Win10, Linux, Mac, Ios, Android and other operating systems including BIOS operations. It will only work with your Niz keyboard.

Bluetooth compatibility, I had problems connecting to a CSR V4.0 Bluetooth adaptor but the keyboard connected fine to my Galaxy Tab A with V4.2 Bluetooth.

X87 Capacitive 45gf Bluetooth Programmable Tenkeyless Keyboard - NIZ87-051

I bought this to be my new travel keyboard for whenever I commute to the office and have used it for about a week. The typing experience is lovely, it's slightly more bouncy and tactile than my Realforce R2's and the caps has a nice soft feel to them. I use the keyboard in Mac mode, which comes with its set of quirks. The Fn button does not function like the Mac keyboard. You can forget about accessing brightness controls, Mission Control, Dictation and Spotlight with this keyboard - unless you're using Karabiner. The software used to modify the keyboard mapping only runs on Windows and only really supports media keys and volume controls when it comes to making the Fn key usable.

The battery life seems great so far, I'm averaging about 5% power usage per day so far with ~8 hours of use. It's a lovely keyboard if you can live with the limited customizability options and half-baked MacOS support.
