UK VA109M CMYK PBT Backlit MX Brown Tactile Keyboard

Having tried various keyboards with various types of switches, I must confess that for typing on, the Cherry Browns are my favourites - hence the choice of this keyboard, which looks fantatstic and is great to type on. But I have same issue as Phyllis in her review - when you type on it (or even just tap the side of the case firmly) there's a curious ringing sound like a distant church bell - with a frequency of about 580Hz if anyone's interested. The quicker you go, the louder the noise becomes. It is definitely not the mechanical switches makign the noise, but seems to be emanating from something inside the keyboard that is underdamped. For £175, I think this is poor, as it is very distracting. When I get a moment I will have a delve underneath to see if I can see what is making the noise, but this is something I think Keyboard Company would do well to raise with Varmilo - it's just not acceptable at this price point. Usual excellent service from Keyboard Co, by the way, delivered quickly and with no hassle. So 5 stars for Keyboard Co, but only 2 for the keyboard, which looks great, is excellent to type on but makes a very irritating noise while you do so.

I got this keyboard with the brown switches as my first mechanical keyboard. Everything about it is nice: the colours of the keys (the grey ones are slightly darker than in the picture), the very clear font on the keys, the feel of the key caps, the weight and stability of the keyboard, and the switches themselves.

Not only is the keyboard a joy to write on (although I have to re-adjust to a proper one after so long on a laptop), but it looks very nice too.

This is a lovely keyboard. The build quality feels great and it looks fantastic. The backlighting is good as well and can be adjusted. Cherry MX Brown is a nice middle-ground switch that's neither heavy nor light.

I don't know why I've waited so long to purchase this keyboard. If you are willing to spend a fair amount for your feels, just get it. It's worth it. It makes me smile every time I use it.

Not sure.... I so looked forward to receiving this keyboard. Dont get me wrong, the keyboard and keys are so beautiful and it provides me with great typing experience BUT omg, there is a pinging noise every time I hit the keys. Had a search on the internet and it says The ping noise is not supposed to happen, but manufacturing defects or poor case design can contribute to the issue.
I don't think I am confident enough to open the keyboard and lubing the switches or inserting dampening foams. However putting the case flat on mat does not help either and the pinging noise is driving me nuts! This is utterly frustrating especially it costs me £175!

I'm writing this review after a week of use... This keyboard is a slice of heaven. You tap on the keys and you feel like a super hero ready for action. It seems expensive, but if you're using the keyboard everyday, like me, it's well worth the price. Don't umm and ahh about it for ages like I did, just go for it. The quality is supreme and the sound just tops it all off.

It was also a pleasure to deal with the company. They're communicative and even the way the keyboard was packaged up was high quality. It came with a nail file, coaster and tool for removing keys. All round high quality. I am so happy with the purchase.

I really like this keyboard. It's nice and heavy, so feels solid on the desk, the coloured keys brighten things up and the typing feel makes it a lot more enjoyable to spend hours at the computer. I'm actually using a Mac and wanted a more substantial keyboard than the thin apple ones, hence this purchase after some research. I was concerned that it might be hard to map the cntrl alt keys correctly, but everything works perfectly. I mapped the cntrl cmd keys and swapped them over using the included tool.

Keyboard co were also very helpful with queries before delivery.

Adjustable backlight, detachable cable, the multimedia controls, shortcut keys, and cool design. Pretty much all you need from a keyboard.
