UK Keychron Q6 QMK RGB Aluminium Mac/PC Carbon Black Tactile Custom Keyboard - Q6-M3-UK

A Refined Piece Of Metal Art
The entire metal body is crafted with 6063 aluminum that is processed through CNC machined, polished, anodized, sandblasted, and undergoes 24 more manufacturing stages to make this solid metal piece of art that is the Q6.

All-Around Customizable Keyboard
To build a fully customizable keyboard, we designed every component easily assembled. Therefore, you can customize and adjust each component you want.

Double Gasket Design
The Double Gasket Design is a new innovative structure in the industry. In addition to the gaskets on the plates, we added silicone pads between the top and bottom cases to significantly reduce the sound resonance between the metals and reduce the noise of the impacted metals. This design allows the keyboard to maintain the flexibility of the gasket structure and improves the overall typing sound.

An Epic Core Inside The Keyboard
A brand new ultra-low-power MCU Arm structure that is powerful and armed with 128K Flash to provide more flexibility for developers. The polling rate is up to 1000 Hz out of the box, which makes latency non-existent for the competitive game.

OSA Profile ABS Backlight Shine-Through Keycaps
To further leverage your typing experience, the Q6 ISO version comes with our unique OSA profile (OEM profile with spherical angle) and ABS backlight shine-through keycaps that aim to provide a more comfortable fingertip feel and a fantastic backlight shine-through effect.

Switch layouts between macOS & Windows
Built with the Mac users’ experience in mind while still retaining compatibility for Windows devices, the Keychron Q6 comes with a system toggle and an additional set of customized keycaps for both Windows and macOS systems. You can now save two different layouts on the keyboard, one for each system.

Programmable Knob
Designed to enhance your creative workflow, the premium rotary encoder allows you to easily customize your favorite keys and macros on the knob through the VIA software.
You can easily customize the Q6's knob to your desired key or macro commands such as: zooming in/out, adjusting screen brightness, brush size, volume, selecting video clips or photos, or backlight hue.

Program Q6 with QMK & VIA
With full QMK and VIA support, you can easily program and remap each key on the keyboard. The open-source firmware means endless possibilities for keyboard layouts, shortcuts, backlight effects, even the knob, and more.

To get started, please follow these steps: Download the appropriate kemap JSON file below, open VIA, turn on 'Show Design tab' on 'Settings' tab, drag the JSON file into the 'Design' tab on VIA to get the Q6 keymap working on VIA.

Since the VIA code for the Q6 is still awaiting approval from Github, it is not yet automatically recognized, so you will need to manually download and enter the Q6 keymap.

Hot-swappable
The hot-swappable sockets are mounted on the PCB, so you can install or change the switches without soldering. The PCB supports both 3 pin and 5 pin MX mechanical switches.

South-facing RGB LED Lights
The south-facing RGB LED is designed to better illuminate the keyboard backlight from the typist's angle. The south-facing RGB is free from interference when the users install OEM or Cherry-profile alternative keycaps on the keyboard.
Note: The Q6's top case has sharper corners to make it much more compatible with third-party keycaps.

Pre-lubed Gateron G Pro Switch
The optimized molded switch with more precise positioning and less wobble will undoubtedly improve the feel at your fingertips. With the fully assembled Q6 version fitted with factory pre-lubricated Gateron G Pro switches, a smoother travel experience is guaranteed for you.

All New Screw-in PCB Stabilizers
The screw-in design increases stability and makes it easier for changes and upgrades. Precise craftsmanship makes the stabilizers more stable and less shaky. The big keys’ (space bar, shift, enter, delete) typing experience is now more stable and smooth. The Keychron Q6 also supports third-party stabilizers, including Cherry or Durock.

ANSI & ISO Layouts
ISO layout is widely used in Europe while the ANSI layout is widely used by the rest of the world.
Note: If you live in Europe, we recommend you purchase the "Barebone ISO" version with the corresponding ISO keycaps. The "Barebone ISO" is suitable for all ISO keyboard countries like the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, etc.

Wow, what a keyboard! Everything I'd hoped for and I now see the metal piece of art line as being serious, not just marketing.
Great service from The Keyboard Company and the typing experience is wonderful and also quiet (I share an office with my wife). I put a bit of tape under the space bar to dull it slightly but that's just the nature of that shape of key.

Great keyboard, thank you!

The Keychron Q6 is an incredibly nice keyboard. I first ordered the Q5 but found the missing print screen key to be disruptive as I take quite a few screenshots in my job.

I returned it to the keyboard company who were amazingly fast at issuing an RMA and getting back to me. The keyboard overall is very heavy, it feels solidly made and the RGB is really nicely lit. a point of note is if you use it in an LED desk lamp environment you may notice they are a bit washed out. The knob that's on the Keychron is very nice and solid machined aluminium. The connection is USB-C so it's really easy to get up and running. They do provide a USB-C to USB-A converter so that you can use it on non-USB-C devices.

Any key on the keyboard is completely re-bindable using VIA or QMK. One point of note that may be useful is for the first few days I couldn't figure out why certain keys weren't rebinding. When the switch is in Mac mode it's the first two layers in via (0 to 1) and Windows mode is 2 to 3.

I took the Gateron Browns and they're clicky enough for feedback but not so clicky that they're majorly noisy in a working-from-home environment. The keys feel very solid and have no wiggle when typing.

This keyboard is my first delve into custom mechanical keyboards. I caught the bug of wanting to build my own from a friend after playing about with their GMMK pro but I needed a numpad for stuff that i do.

The keyboard feels absolutely amazing, a hefty and lovely 3.3kg feels very premium. The switches feel amazing, the keycaps are amazing, the sound is amazing and thats all stock. Once i break this keyboard in I will look into new switches, keycaps and more. But if you want a 100% mechanical custom keyboard, I highly recommend this. 10/10 can't see myself ever going back to corsairrazersteelseries etc.

This is the way.

Amazing service from The Keyboard Company and I couldnt be happier with my Keychron Q3. Incredibly sturdy and a dream to type on. The matching wooden wrist rest is perfect. Highly recommended.

I am absolutely thrilled to bits with my new Keychron Q6. The Service from The Keyboard Company was excellent too.
I Must have spent ages trawling through online reviews and YouTube videos.
It was time well spent, I never knew there was so much fastidious fandom and fetish for keyboards. Then again keyboards are to desktop computers the same as steering wheels are to cars. Integral.
The brown key switches are a dream to press, It's far more pleasant to type on than the more fluid linear switches I used before.
The build quality of this is sublime. With a heavy all metal chassis it's got all the hallmarks of work and a little, (or a lot), of play...just what I was looking for.
If I had to balance my review, the keycap letters are smaller than I'm used to. Thats no issues for a hot-swapable keyboard.
I would certainly recommend the Keychron Q6 and The Keyboard Company to my friends and colleagues.
So pleased I found both.

Amazing keyboard as expected from Keychron, lovely to type on and being hotswap means a switch failure isn't going to write the keyboard off.
Excellent, fast service from The Keyboard Co!

Excellent keyboard; I previously only bought mechanical keyboards from mass-market brands, but finally decided to get into custom keyboards this year. What a fantastic board; truly great tactile experience, and lovely keystroke sounds too. Feels brilliantly sturdy and reliable, and is nicely ergonomic. The rotary encoder feels really nice to use, and I'm excited to get it set up exactly how I want with VIA.

Excellent keyboard. Quality is like no other I've had, and excellent service from the keyboard company
  Angelos  14/07/2023
I got this to use as a base for my first custom keyboard project, and I am pleased to say that it met all my expectations.

The keyboard is great to use on its own as it comes out of the box, with a hefty weight due to it's solid construction and aluminium case. The factory lubed switches are buttery smooth and sound good, making the typing experience enjoyable. The factory lubed stabilisers that come with the board are pretty decent too, which is usually where a lot of the pre-built boards tend to come short - generous amount of lubricant was applied to the inside of the stems, however the outside of the stems wasn't evenly coated. The keycaps, although made out of ABS, seemed to have some sort of matte coating which I guess could help with avoiding shine developing over time (hopefully that's the case). The keycaps felt decent to type on, and they were shine-through which was nice, but I was not a huge fan of the legends. The hot-swap feature and the screw-in stabilisers are amazing features that open up the possibility for customisation should you wish to go down that route. Furthermore, the keyboard is fully programmable using VIA or QMK, which is a nice bonus (it can be a bit confusing if you haven't done this before). Lastly, the volume knob is pretty handy and worked fine and without the need to set it up.

Now, I knew before I even purchased the keyboard that the Gateron Browns that come with it would not provide me with the tactility that I needed from a switch, which is why I went for different ones while opting to keep these as backups or to sell to recoup some of the cost. If you have experience in the hobby and know exactly what switches and keycaps you want, you should consider getting the barebones version. I also opted for 3rd party stabilisers as well, as that gave me control over the quality and the lubrication of that part. I also got a set of PBT keycaps due to personal preference. Finally, I also used switch pads and the tape mode to further improve the acoustics of the keyboard.

With all that being said, I want to reiterate that you don't have to do anything to the keyboard, as it is fine as it comes out of the box. However, the hot-swappable nature of it is great as it gives you the option to experiment and try new things down the line. After all, it's quite an expensive hobby, so if you don't have the capacity to go fully custom right off the bat, you can always do so later on. I was presonally very satisfied with my purchase and I would recommend this to people on a tighter budget that want a board with a solid aluminium case.

Having recently caught the mechanical keyboard bug and acquired/modded several lower-budget (but still great) boards, I wanted to try something premium. The Q6 is indisputably expensive, but utterly worth it in my view. It weighs nigh on 2.5Kg, which means the keybed feels fantastically solid, almost as if the base is made of marble. It's amazing to type on, and has a distinct high-pitched satisfying clack, but the mass means it's not overly loud, and there's no hollowness or resonance. Extremely pleasing, almost ASMR!

As for mods, the stock Gateron Brown switches are fine, but I prefer a much more tactile feel, so switched to Epomaker Budgerigar switches. The upper casekey surround is also metal which adds to the solid feel, but does cause a slight ringing sound just above the cursor keys. I fixed this with a patch of adhesive felt on the keyplate (also metal)- just tall enough to touch the surround without interfering with the gasket movement.

Thanks to The Keyboard Company for getting the keyboard to me bang on time, and well packaged!
