UK Filco Majestouch-2, MX Brown Tactile Keyboard

Great keyboard, with just the right weighting for me. Usual excellent service from this top supplier.

A really nice keyboard for both programming/typing and gaming. It doesn't flex like my older Cherry keyboard, so it feels even more tactile and satisfying to type on, even though it has brown keys rather than the clicky blue ones (which are less suitable for some games due to hysteresis, as well as being noisier). It doesn't have any extra lighting, USB sockets or volume controls, but after some helpful input on different options from Bruce at the Keyboard Company, my son decided to go for the best-quality one with brown keys within his budget and he's been very happy with it. Although it doesn't light up, the appearance matches the rest of his equipment very neatly. Comes with a PS2 adaptor as well as the built-in USB plug. Doesn't have drainage holes (eg. like high-end laptop keyboards, though the key mechanisms are above the base level) so be careful...

I've been working with the keyboard for a few days and it seems great so far, definitely an improvement over my previous Logitech K120 which wasn't mechanical but was a good keyboard. The biggest difference apart from the more solid feel is that when you type 2 keys very fast and close together, they come out in the correct order thus reducing typos.

Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Since having this keyboard, my working from home has been far better. The Cherry MX Brown mechanical keys are excellent, the build quality is superb and the lack of multicoloured backlighting (which is a distracting when working in my opinion) makes this the ideal keyboard for work.

Not only do I highly recommend this product, I also highly recommend The Keyboard Company, as they shipped this to me very quickly, kept me updated as to when the product would be delivered and were a pleasure to deal with.

An excellent keyboard - solid build, feels like it will last years, and very responsive and a dream to type with, especially if you're a properly trained typist.

No bells and whistles - it's a boring keyboard with boring brown switches. In other words I can type on it all day without spending any time thinking about the mechanics of typing - which is exactly as it should be. Also, the keyboard feels absolutely solid, and I'm predicting a very long life for it.

Very impressed with the quality and the professional looks of this keyboard. I've previously owned a Ducky One and I think this is a step up.

Bought with the O-Ring Swtich Dampeners along with the Key Puller to reduce noise, and I'm very pleased with the results.

The short version: This is a good, solid, no frills, professional mechanical keyboard. If you need one for work, this is a good one to get.

The longer version: As some of the other reviewers, I am a programmer. I spend a considerable portion of my day typing, so a decent keyboard is a piece of kit worth investing in.

For years I used a (now discontinued) Cooler Master Storm XT with Cherry MX Brown switches, until it finally wore out recently. I needed a replacement that would not only be a joy to type on, but would also be something that I could use in a professional setting, and potentially use with workclient laptops which would not allow installation of additional driver software. After quite a search I narrowed down the choice to the Filco Majestouch 2, and I am rather happy with it.

It doesn't have any fancy bells or whistles; there's no media keys, no pass through USB ports, and certainly no RGB back-lighting. What you get is a good solid keyboard, with a satisfying tactile feel to typing. It has a good overall professional appearance, so I'd be happy taking this back into the office when the time comes. Also, it doesn't require any additional software or drivers, so it is good for using with work or client laptops.

With Cherry MX Brown switches, it's not too loud, however I have further quietened mine with some dampening O-Rings to reduce the sound of bottoming out the keys. (Check the accessories section).

The one improvement I would have liked would be to have a removable cable, rather than an integrated one, as that would allow for using just the right length of cable for my desk setup. This is a minor thing though.

In summary: if you need a good keyboard to use for work (which doesn't light up like a Christmas tree), get this one.

After 5 years of constant use, the keytops were too worn for accurately typing passwords. I fell back to using another make of keyboards that used the same switches (I'd won a keyboard). Just wasn't the same.
Now replaced all the keytops. Keyboard as good as new and like having an old friend back.

The keyboard is superb. I have two of them now: one for work and one for home. The service from The Keyboard Company was also faultless.

I bought a gaming keyboard so that i always get the key stroke logged as fast as possible, unfortunately these fancy RNG keyboards just dont hold up. This filco keyboard is a whole different level, very solid and robust. I also love the simple layout, looks cheap but it's anything but.

Best keyboard in the world! It is my second and the first is still going strong that I bought about 8 years ago after heavy daily usage. I cannot recommend enough.

Ordered two with brown switches, one for home and one for the office. Couldn't be happier- feels solid and great to type on. Very no-frills keyboard with no extra keys or weird layouts or other things I don't need. A very straightforward solid quality keyboard!

much better than the plastic gigabyte keyboard i had before. however, i ordered brown keys, and wonder if blue ones might have been better. the keyboard is really solid. the dust cover could be better than the cheap plastic one provided for only a little more. i do make fewer mistakes.

This keyboard is replacing a 7 year old QPad keyboard with cherry blue switches that I broke recently. I've had the Filco Majestouch-2 for 24 hours and I'm very happy with it. It's sturdy and is a pleasure to use, and I think I quite like the feel of the brown switches; there's less resistance than with blue switches so maybe my fingers will last longer with this keyboard too.

Keyboardco offer a great service, I will certainly use this company again. I shan't forget, as I have a keyboardco coaster next to my pc and what I can only assume is a Keyboardco nail file in my drawer full of bits and bobs just below it 😃

I bought this keyboard in Mar2014, exclusively for work (I'm a programmer), 2 years after I got a blue switch model for home.
I only bought the brown switch so that I would not unduly disturb my colleagues in our open-plan office, and it's worked very well for that.
It's still a bit click-y, so not entirely silent, and feels like it requires slightly more force to actuate the keys, so my (personal) preference is still 100% with the blue switch model, but it's still a keyboard beyond reproach, solid, dependable, and very robust.

I've had the Filco Majestouch-2, MX Brown Tactile Keyboard for a week now and it is an absolute pleasure to use; it feels solid (it is heavy) and well built, and is very satisfying to type on. Having a decent keyboard makes such a huge difference to the typing experience especially when compared to the laptop keyboard of my work-issued Dell, which was beginning to make my thumbs ache after 4 months of working from home during lockdown. This full size keyboard with MX Browns is well built, feels great to type on and brings pleasure to everyday work. Very happy with it!

Awesome bit of kit - I tried out a couple of Das Keyboard boards before this and the difference is clear. They were good (loved the keys) but I thought the keyboards were rather dominated by their features and the branding was verging on the arrogant.
The Filco is a perfect blend of material and design, its solid, purposeful and, like another Reviewer stated, it makes you want to type.
Theres nothing you dont need, and everything you do need is right there. The Cherry brown keys suit me and the sound and tactile feedback benefit from the sheer mass of the chassis.
Most gaming keyboards remind me of a young girls tricycle with colourful streamers and a purple fluffy unicorn glued to a basket full of plush kitten toys.
If this keyboard was a car it would be a black 2015 Defender with a .50 cal in the back.
Its not pretty. Its serious.

Lovely keyboard, positive key action (which I'm getting used to after years of poor-quality keyboards) and a decent weight, meaning that it stays where it is put on the desktop.

This keyboard is just great. Solid build quality, satisfying tactile feel. I tried the Silent Red before this, expecting the Brown to be too noisy in the office. But didn't like the feel of it, and exchanged it for a Brown. It's only slightly louder but doesn't stand out in an office environment. Top marks also to KeyboardCo's customer service, the response times have been exceptional.

Lovely keyboard to type on. I came from a Ducky Zero and the upgrade in board quality is definitely noticeable. Solid, consistent feel across all keys. None of the rattle in the larger keys that others have reported. My only complaint would be the keycaps themselves. They are low quality ABS with raised legends which I instantly disliked. This was expected though and I quickly replaced them with some Tai-Hao doubleshot ABS keycaps which feel and look great. You could go the extra mile and buy PBT but the ABS are nicely textured and perfect for what I want.

Delighted with this board! Previous non mechanical Microsoft ergonomic wireless which I had beat I to submission. This Filco Majestouch-2, NKR, Tactile Action Keyboard is a joy to use, not too loud, but clear and decisive and precise. I will say it again.....I am delighted

I bought this after breaking my old SteelSeries 7G keyboard. This keyboard has brown Cherry switches which, when compared to the black Cherry switches of the 7G, feel very lightweight. To be honest, at the moment I still lust after my old 7G but that doesn't mean that this is not a truly super keyboard. I'm sure I'll get used to it and still enjoy typing immensely. At the end of the day, it does what it's supposed to, feels great and will last a bloody long time.

Wow. I actually find myself wanting to sit at my desk, just so I can type on this keyboard. I tried the Romer-G before this and the difference is staggering. Absolutely love the Cherry MX Brown and this keyboard is comfortable to type on.
I think I would have liked the option to add a wrist rest but just bought a separate one. However, this has totally ruined my ability to type on cheap keyboards...

When I received the package I was surprised by its weight. It is a pretty solid keyboard with an excellent typing feeling. This is my first mechanical keyboard and I must say it was the best choice by far. The build quality is astonishing and the sound very pleasing. It makes you want to type more.

Excellent keyboard. completely satisfied with purchase. Came from a chinese keyboard with brown switches, but there is not possible to compare them, the original Cherry MX switches are way better. Keycaps should be a bit better, but as they are replaceable, this is not a big issue.

It's not until you try one of these mechanical keyboards that you realise how satisfying and responsive it is. Solid, weighted and with the MX-Cherry Brown switches a nice amount of click. Also got the Filco palm rest to match which makes the typing experience comfortable and complete. Extremely fast ordering and delivery service too.

I wasn't sure what to expect given that I had been using keyboards that came with the dell workstations I've purchased over the years but the filco majestouch 2 I purchased from keyboardco is a completely different beast, so well made, nice and heavy so it won't move around my desk too easily and, yes, the keys really do make typing a pleasurable experience (i can't believe I said that but it's true), and it works faultlessly through my old KVM. Is for the retailer, quick, friendly but more importantly they had everything in stock. If you're in need of a new keyboard you won't go wrong here.

Bad keyboards break; great keyboards wear.

I have replaced the keycaps on at least one occasion, not including when I swapped the default ones for blanks, and it still does its job well.

Two things can be tricky with this keyboard: the cord is way too short, but can be replaced by a third-party part. You should definitely get on that.

The second is that it is an absolute pain and a half to clean the keyboard, although you can get to most of the gunk by taking off the back and front frame rather than by removing every single keycap.

I wish a replacement frame were available since I originally cleaned my keyboard with isopropyl which eroded the surface of it to keep everything completely replaceable, but other than that, this is a keyboard that feels like its going to live forever.

I have bought quite a few keyboards over the last 30 plus years but this is definitely the best keyboard yet. It responds to my touch and because it is a mechanical board I can quite clearly hear every letter I type so I don't miss any letters or numbers out now. It is a very simple design and well laid out and extremely well made. Well worth the money. I found The Keyboard Company a real pleasure to deal with.

I love this keyboard, I had thought about buying one for a while after reading reviews here and there, and hearing about other people loving their mechanical keyboards. When I first unboxed it and pretended to type I wasn't so sure if it was worth the money, but once I put it in front of the computer and started using it in real life I really noticed how much faster I could type and the response was much much better. I am typing this review on my work keyboard, I used my new keyboard for about 3 hours straight last night and it's definitely a marked difference. One thing I would note is that it seems a little higher, maybe only a few millimetres than keyboards I am used to, I think I will buy a full length wrist pad to make this more comfortable, but this may be because I don't have a proper office set-up at home and I am using it on my kitchen table, if I had an office chair to adjust my seating height perhaps this problem would go away? Either way, it's a great keyboard, really lovely to type on.

What an excellent keyboard this is with a lovely tactile response. It's a real pleasure to use. It reminds me of the keyboard supplied with the IBM PC-XT back in the mid 1980s. Such a difference from most of today's cheapo and squishy keyboards.

I am delighted with this keyboard. It is so solidly built that I think it will probably last for the rest of my life (I am retired though). The communication from Keyboard Company has be excellent and the delivery was as fast as you could expect. Although I may not need to buy another one I would have no hesitation in recommending both the product and the company to others.

This is my first mechanical keyboard and I'm very pleased with it. The brown switches are perfect for me and I already feel my typing is improving in accuracy, if not speed.

As keyboards go I guess it's a little plain: no backlight, no funky​ macros... but I'm not missing those at all. It's a nice solid build that looks pleasing to me, and I'm very happy with how it feels to use.

The one downside I would point out is that the Space bar has got an angle on it. Depending on how you position your thumb, it may feel a bit sharp to press unless you are fully on top of the key. I'm a lazy typer though, so a wrist rest might improve this by raising my hands higher.

Overall: recommended.

Best keyboard I've ever owned - so easy to use and such a good feel. Sturdy construction and stays put on desk.

I bought this keyboard last week for work and have just started using it today (on a Windows 10 64-bit PC). Excellent keyboard, feels sturdy, very well built and well worth the price if you are typing most of the day.

The brown switches aren't too loud so fine for an office environment, however I may install some red o-rings to see how they feel and whether they make the keys much quieter.

I bought this keyboard a few years ago and it hasn't disappointed. At least not if you can touch type ... a couple of keys have lost most of their markings, indeed A and S are now completely blank. But it's a great keyboard to use and has a decent heft to it.

Unfortunately its cable has frayed somewhat (it tends to get moved daily - blame hot-decking!) making the keyboard unresponsive. It thankfully was relatively simple to take apart and splice in a USB socket so the cable can now be detached when moving. So we're back in business ... far nicer than the bog standard keyboards we're given :-)

I think Helen and crew must think I live in prison because a couple of nail files were smuggled in with the keyboard. Fortunately, no bars on my office window, but these would have been handy if there were. A nice touch! Actually, I don't want to escape because I love my work too much I'm sure the keyboard will only add to the pleasure and precision of my typing! I would have no hesitation in recommending both the Filco and The Keyboard Company.

I have had a few days with this keyboard, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The keystrokes are a joy to the fingers and anyone who uses a keyboard frequently would benefit. Also, the service from Keyboard Co was wonderful. The item was delivered within a few days and a VAT invoice was provided as requested.

Both the service received from the Keyboard Company and the Filco Majestouch-2 are excellent. The Order was placed on 13th Feb and it arrived on 15th Feb. The keyboard is solid and could be used for self defense!

I cannot fault this keyboard. It has keys and they are on a board. Under the keys are some delicious Cherry MX Brown switches, which makes this one of the best damn keyboards I have ever used. It's beautiful to type on. I don't play a lot of games (not a huge selection on linux), but I do get into a lot of internet fights, and this has increased my WPM, so I can troll more n00bs quicker. l33t.

If they made this keyboard with media keys, that would just make it the only keyboard worth buying IN THE UNIVERSE. As it is, it's only the best keyboard IN THE WORLD.

This Filco keyboard was recommended to me by someone who has purchased from the keyboard company before. So, it was word of mouth that sold it to me. As for the keyboard, I only use it for typing on and it is a clacky not a squidgy keyboard.

My operating system is windows 10 64bit and the keyboard is simply plug 'n' play. No other software is required, which is a bonus in my book.

I got this keyboard for work and I love it. Compared to the cherry mx reds I use on my gaming machine at home, the browns feel great for typing, giving that slight feedback that the reds lack. And with the standard sized keys I was easily able to customise the look with some nice double-shot PBT keycaps.

I ordered this keyboard hoping to obtain a top-of-the-line product, and I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived much sooner than expected. I had used two other mechanical keyboards, and I have to say the Majestouch 2 topped both of them. Being familiar with Cherry MX switches, I would like to commend other aspects of this keyboard; the design is very slick and the keycaps are marked with beautifully printed characters. The item doesn't weigh too much and is compact. I would definitely recommend this keyboard to other enthusiasts, but it might be a bit of an overkill for a first-time buyer.

Excellent keyboard with superb tactile response, each key is nicely weighted and slightly concave making fast typing much easier. The space bar stays level and depresses no matter where along the bar you hit it from, which is a first for any keyboard I have used.
I wont be going back to other keyboards after this.
