USA Keychron Q8 65% Ergo QMK RGB Aluminium Mac/PC Carbon Black Tactile Custom Keyboard with Knob - Q8-M3Z-USA

A Refined Piece Of Metal Art
The entire metal body is crafted with 6063 aluminum that is processed through CNC machined, polished, anodized, sandblasted, and undergoes 24 more manufacturing stages to make this solid metal piece of art that is the Q8.

All-Around Customizable Keyboard
To build a fully customizable keyboard, we designed every component easily assembled. Therefore, you can customize and adjust each component you want.

Double Gasket Design
The Double Gasket Design is a new innovative structure in the industry. In addition to the gaskets on the plates, we added silicone pads between the top and bottom cases to significantly reduce the sound resonance between the metals and reduce the noise of the impacted metals. This design allows the keyboard to maintain the flexibility of the gasket structure and improves the overall typing sound.

An Epic Core Inside The Keyboard
A brand new ultra-low-power MCU Arm structure that is powerful and armed with 128K Flash to provide more flexibility for developers. The polling rate is up to 1000 Hz out of the box, which makes latency non-existent for the competitive game.

OSA Profile Double-shot PBT Keycaps
For the new double-shot PBT keycaps, we built a new profile. It has a similar height to the OEM profile and has an SA-like shape. We named it the OSA (OEM spherical angled) keycap. The PBT keycaps will provide excellent oil resistance, enhance the type feel, and prevent the legends from fading out.

Switch layouts between macOS & Windows
Built with the Mac users' experience in mind while still retaining compatibility for Windows devices, the Keychron Q8 comes with a system toggle and an additional set of customized keycaps for both Windows and macOS systems. You can now save two different layouts on the keyboard, one for each system.

Programmable Knob
Designed to enhance your creative workflow, the premium rotary encoder allows you to easily customize your favorite keys and macros on the knob through the VIA software.
You can easily customize the Q8's knob to your desired key or macro commands such as: zooming in/out, adjusting screen brightness, brush size, volume, selecting video clips or photos, or backlight hue.

Program Q8 with QMK & VIA
With full QMK and VIA support, you can easily program and remap each key on the keyboard. The open-source firmware means endless possibilities for keyboard layouts, shortcuts, backlight effects, even the knob, and more.

To get started, please follow these steps: Download the appropriate kemap JSON file below, open VIA, turn on 'Show Design tab' on 'Settings' tab, drag the JSON file into the 'Design' tab on VIA to get the Q8 keymap working on VIA.

Since the VIA code for the Q8 is still awaiting approval from Github, it is not yet automatically recognized, so you will need to manually download and enter the Q8 keymap.

Note: If the VIA software still does not detect your keyboard after you upload the latest JSON file above, please update your keyboard with the latest firmware. The VIA software will only pair with your keyboard when the JSON file corresponds with the right firmware version.

The hot-swappable sockets are mounted on the PCB, so you can install or change the switches without soldering. The PCB supports both 3 pin and 5 pin MX mechanical switches.

South-facing RGB LED Lights
The south-facing RGB LED is designed to better illuminate the keyboard backlight from the typistís angle with the premium non-shine-through PBT keycaps installed. The south-facing RGB is also free from interference when the users install OEM or Cherry-profile alternative keycaps on the keyboard.
Note: The Q8's top case has sharper corners to make it much more compatible with third-party keycaps.

Pre-lubed Gateron G Pro Switch
The optimized molded switch with more precise positioning and less wobble will undoubtedly improve the feel at your fingertips. With the fully assembled Q8 version fitted with factory pre-lubricated Gateron G Pro switches, a smoother travel experience is guaranteed for you.

All New Screw-in PCB Stabilizers
The screw-in design increases stability and makes it easier for changes and upgrades. Precise craftsmanship makes the stabilizers more stable and less shaky. The big keysí (space bar, shift, enter, delete) typing experience is now more stable and smooth. The Keychron Q8 also supports third-party stabilizers, including Cherry or Durock.

My first mechanical keyboard (and possibly only?). Took a chance on ANSI and Alice layout and very happy with both after an initial adjustment phase. Love the positioning of the two function keys which work really well with the num keys and Mac, and all keys feel and sound great, plus its really solid and heavy too.

I bought a set of their camel coloured Cherry profile keys later, but Ive not yet swapped them over as the stock keys feel so nice. One for a rainy day. :)

I have to admit, I was not expecting to buy an ergonomic keyboard. I have used them in the past, and rather like them. However due to an operation a month ago, which may have been made necessary due to my old, straight keyboard, I decided that ergonomic was the way to go for now when my old Filco keyboard started to stutter. I am an author, and type some 300,000 words a year, so a keyboard that makes the process as easy and comfortable as possible is an important investment.
I've bought this, and I'm hugely impressed. Firstly because of the weight, which is significant at nearly two kilos! When it's set on a desk, it will not move. Having a new Apple iMac, it was important to have a keyboard as compatible as possible. This is as good as the old Filco - it misses a couple of nice-to-haves, such as the microphone button, but I am confident that this can be programmed into the keyboard. What is lovely is the layout. Very slightly angled; each key is sculpted, and the feel of them is superb. It looks simple and plain, but I like that. I don't want distractions when I'm typing. However, the real joy is the feel of the keys. They have a wonderful, soft feel to them, and although it took a couple of hours to get used to the new layout, that is nothing. The main thing is, the sensation of typing on this keyboard is just wonderful, and the twin gasket system makes it a great deal quieter. This is definitely for professional typists like me, or for serious gamers at this price, but I cannot imagine a better keyboard for the money.
