This keyboard is not just a tool, but a piece of art on your desk. The Q1 is created with a 6063 aluminum CNC machined body, polished, anodized and sandblasted finish, and twenty-four manufacturing processes.
You can assemble every part.
To build a fully customizable keyboard, we designed every component to be able to assemble easily. Therefore, you can customize and adjust each component as you wish.
Switch layouts between macOS & Windows.
Built with the Mac users experience in mind while still retaining compatibility for Windows devices, Keychron Q1 comes with a system toggle and an additional set of customized keycaps for both Windows and macOS systems. You will be able to save two different layouts in the keyboard, one for each system.
Gasket-mounted design makes typing more flexible.
The gasket design provides the board with a nice, flexible typing feel and a satisfying typing sound. The Q1’s maximum flex is up to 2.5mm, which makes the board one of the most flexible out there.
Program with QMK & Launcher.
The open-source QMK firmware means endless possibilities for key remapping, macros, shortcuts, and more. Now you can easily customize each key with the Keychron Launcher web app. * Please use the latest version of Chrome / Opera / Edge browser to open the Launcher and connect the keyboard to your device via wired mode.
Hot-swappable.
The hot-swappable sockets are mounted on the PCB, so you can install or change the switches without soldering. The PCB supports both 3 pin and 5 pin MX mechanical switches.
South-facing RGB LED Lights.
The south-facing RGB SMD LED lights are easy to be seen because they are facing toward the typer. It’s also good for the PBT, Cherry profile, and non-shine-through keycaps which are popular for customized keycaps.
All new Gateron screw-in PCB stablizers.
The screw-in design increases stability and makes it easy for changes and upgrades. More precise craftsmanship makes the silver-plated stabilizers more stable and less wobbly. The big keys (space bar, shift, enter, delete) typing experience is more stable and smooth. Keychron Q1 also support third-party stabilizers including Cherry or Durock.
Cable management is easy with the premium coiled cable.
Whether your computer's interface is on the left, right, or front of the desk, the premium coiled cable can be laid out in any manner. We have also designed the coiled cables in different colors to match the different color cases.
ISO layout.
ISO layout is widely used in Europe. Note: If you live outside of Europe, we recommend you to purchase the ANSI version.

This is the first all aluminium mechanical keyboard I've used and when paired with lubed Durock stabilisers (included stabilisers were factory lubed but not great), Kailh Box Navy switches and a wonderful OSA Profile keycap set; it has given me the absolute BEST typing experience I have ever had. On a large desk pad, the sound is so perfect! And yes, Kailh clicky switches are 800% better than Cherry Blues.
The Keyboard Co service is fantastic and they ship things out VERY quickly. I absolutely recommend them.

Having already caught the bug by using the K2 (also purchased from here), the Q1 is my first step into full customisation and it's a beast. I'm now torn between using it as is (it's a pretty good typing experience out of the box) and taking it aprt to start modding bits. Completely recommended hardware and the service is top notch

A very nice barebones keyboard, provided you're happy to do a bit of modding.
As stock, you'll find this Q1 Version 1 has quite a bit of aluminium ping however this is easily fixable by doing the force break mod. Personally I'd also recommend doing doing the tempest tape mod and removing the thicker of the two bottom case foams for what I found to be the best overall sound. (If you don't know what any of these mods are check youtube, they're all so simple anyone can do them.)
If you don't want to do any modding the Q1 Version 2 would be the better pickup, but when I bought this it was on special offer at the time and an absolute bargain.
Overall, I'm very happy with it.
