Red O-Ring Switch Dampeners For Filco Keyboards - KBC-OR-40-002

They do exactly what it says on the tin - got a bit bored of the 'banter' at work about the amount of noise my Majestouch makes and noise reduction aside I think I might actually prefer the keyboard with these fitted! Initially felt these were a little pricey for what is effectively lots of little bits of silicon but it terms of the improvement, well worth the money.

I bought the red and the blue o-rings. Prefer the sound and feel of the reds, especially on long modifier keys like Shift, Backspace, Enter and the spacebar.

These are superb - I'm using Cherry MX Blues on one keyboard and Browns on another (I made a little effort to keep the noise down with the Browns).

Fitting the o-rings is a bit of a pain - on a full keyboard with numeric keypad, it took me around 90 mins, however, I was taking my time and I'm not at all mechanically minded. I ended up watching a YouTube video to figure out how to deal with the Spacebar, Return key etc. It's easy enough - I won't try to describe here.

I ordered red, They seem about right. Action is perfect, no real loss of travel, just much quieter whilst still very tactile.

I would agree with another reviewer that it feels less stressful when you are not bottoming out all the time. I'm not sure but I think there is a chance it may have improved my speed a little.

Well worth the money - I would say that I doubled up on the Spacebar and the Enter key - I was one ring short but had a spare in the other pack.

Both Blue and Browns are significantly quieter. I wished I had discovered these before ordering the Browns - I would have gone Blue with o-rings. You live and learn.

If you're considering it - order - I doubt you will regret it.

Bought these for a Filco Majestouch 2.

Personally I like the lower travel time - I haven't learned not to bottom out and I appreciate the softer landing.

No problems actuating the keys but the other colours are apparently a little thicker so bear that in mind if you want to get those instead.

My colleagues appreciate the quiet!

Somewhat of a shame that they don't come with an applicator - they're tight, they have to do be to stay in position, so getting them on was tricky. I ended up using a spudger from a phone repair kit I have; it would be nice if they came with something.

These have made quite a noticeable difference - I'm using Cherry MX browns and the noise reduction is good (an implied request from my colleagues comments) while the key actuation point is still nice and tactile.

I'm still on the fence as to whether I necessarily prefer the reduced travel with or without the o-rings - both are great - but for under 10 these are definitely worth a try.

These do what it says on the box - they've quietened my MX browns a decent amount. They do change the feel of the keyboard slightly, although this wasn't unexpected. It still feels great to type on.

Great product and easy to fit, took me around 20min to fit on a full size filco board. It turned my cherry browns into a near silent typing machine. Would recommend although it's a bit overpriced for some simple o rings.

Reduced the 'clacky' bottoming out of the Filco keyboard. A great improvement for little cost.

A matter of taste, yes, but for my taste, an essential. My first mechanical keyboard. Without the orings, I wondered if I'd made a mistake spending all this money, with them, I completely understand the praise these keyboards received.

I ordered red, but doubled up on the main characters, space bar and return. I would therefore go for the thicker variant. The reds were a good place to start to gauge my taste.

Keyboardco have been an excellent supplier: somehow making the transaction more human. Quite a feat for an online shopping experience.

O-ring switch dampeners are easy to put and remove. It's really worth having them for the price. It offers extra modes for typing. The rest is a matter of taste.

Yes, it does make a complete difference. Dampeners avoid the key to hit the bottom of the panel. Hence you remove the clicking noise which is different from the tactile effect due to the MX Brown switches.

I've just grabbed a new board from Keyboard Co. I'm fortunate to work in a quiet, open-planned office in the Suffolk countryside. I prefer tactile, clicky switches and I knew these wouldn't go down well with my co-workers!

Fitting these o-rings is a piece of cake. It's a little time-consuming, but it dampens the volume of the keypresses as you'd expect and it also refines the feel of the key at the furthest point of it's travel.

Without o-rings I've noticed I tend to bottom-out as I'm quite heavy-handed when I type. This results in a clunky sound and in hindsight left me feeling a little fatigued after a day's work. These red o-rings are apparently softer than the other colorssizes and I feel like they add a ncie level of cushioning and rebound to my key presses. I'd be interested in trying the other varieties, but as a simple, cheap addition to a nice keyboard, these work wonders!
