USA V80 Tenkeyless Tactile Dual Backlit Keyboard - KBP-V80-B-B/R

Although I always tried to buy good keyboards, this is my first mechanical keyboard in recent years. As I work now alone in an office, I can afford the noise.

For my use (software development), this keyboard is perfect. Well built, heavy enough, the compact size (no keypad + thin outside frame) makes the mouse closer to the hand. This is a true ANSI USA QWERTY, with well-placed keys of proper dimensions. The Cherry MX Brown switches are really pleasant for touch typing, and not too noisy, although you want to mute your phone if you get bored during a conf call and want to type. And it may be too noisy for coworkers in a shared space.

The backlighting is simple but does the job without needing any software (so it works under Linux, Mac, Windows,...). By Fn + Function keys you set and mix the amount of blue and red LED light for 2 keyboard zones: Esc+AWSD+Fn+Arrows, and the rest. You can save and recall 3 profiles.

Other nice touches are the detachable cable that can exit from the rear, left or right side, and the backlight and slightly dimmed extra glyphs on keys (e.g. ! is dimmer than 1).

The only thing that could be improved could be a wrist rest to the dimensions of the keyboard, but it is easy to make one. And perhaps some sound insulation of the case may help reduce a bit the noise for others, although it is quite quiet for a mechanical keyboard, and not a problem in use.

I didn't know this brand before, but I would heartily recommend it.
