UK VA109Mac PBT Backlit MX Silent Red Soft Linear Mac Keyboard

Tactile, solid, quiet and gloriously understated. Loses one star because of the outdated USB mini connection (yes, really), rather than USB-C.

Not Cheap but a very good keyboard:
Like most of the world, working-from-home, has been a challenge during Lockdown.
Finally, after much research, purchased this keyboard. I never heard of this keyboard before so it was a risk - given the purchase price.
I did not need to worry.
Keyboard arrived in a box within a box i.e. very well packaged.
Absolutely brand new keyboard - with English instructions.
Connected, via a Thunderbold 3 dock, and worked first time.
Keyboard has behaved faultlessly. Once I worked out I had to press fn + A to enable Mac mode. Yes, I really should have read the instructions...
Typing is a joy. I have never been a fan of the Apple keyboard and preferred a full-size keyboard that allowed for fast typing. With the separate keypad, function keys etc. It really is simple and efficient when typing long docs or even just responding to emails.

Q. Should you spend the money on this keyboard?
A. Yes, if you want a quality keyboard, that is well made and will last a lifetime.
Then YES, this a quality item that will last you a very long time. With the ability to switch, using the fn + A or fn +W, there is no clunky software to configure etc.
Note: The keyboard has a consistent feel for touch typing. However if you are used to old IBM type clicky keyboards this one does not. It is quite silent in comparison.

An excellent keyboard all round, great build quality, grade-A switches (quiet and suitable for office work) and fantastic service from Keyboard Company who changed my delivery address after I made a rookie mistake with my PayPal address! Would recommend.

I wont say silent but the switch is indeed much quieter than some tactile switches Ive tried. So Im very pleased with the product. Two minor things: 1. It seems that they messed up cmd and option keys. You can either change the key caps using the provided tool or go to preferences to interchange the mapping of these two keys; 2. Press fn + option would disable the option key. I didnt know this one before and got a bit confused when the option key didnt work the other day.

This keyboard is fantastic, it is my first mechanical keyboard. After a good week of searching, this keyboard is great if you are around other people in a work space as it is very quiet. HOWEVER i have a few gripes that could make this keyboard better.

- it's not the biggest of things but i wish the light shun through the keys rather then around it, if you are in pitch black environment you won't see the keys unless your monitor shining on it

- The other things is, as the another reviewer pointed out that the breathing light only works on Windows mode, where as Mac its a stagnant adjustments, which i do prefer; but it would be nice to have the option

- i wish it came in black

overall after a few days of use its a fantastic keyboard and i keep getting praise of how quiet it is !

Amendment to previous review. In Mac mode the LED lighting does work by using the F5F6 key, there are four levels of brightness but it doesn't do the breathing option that you get in windows mode.

My first mechanical keyboard. It feels really solid and much better to type on compared with the default mac keyboard. To switch to mac mode hold the fn key + A for 3 seconds when the cap loc key flashes it has changed. fn key + W will switch back to windows version. Only issue so far is if mac mode is enabled to use the usual shortcuts, it stops the Led lighting from working.

Overall good quality. Solid build, nice and hefty.
Mac compatibility works great, swapping between modes is dead simple.
Switches are really quiet, perfect for shared office space. More or less the same loudness as an Apple bluetooth keyboard. Maybe a touch louder.
I have found that a couple of the switches are a tiny bit scratchier than others, but that may be knit picking.
Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a quiet Mac friendly mechanical board.
