UK Ergo Pro Quiet PC Ergonomic Keyboard

A better ergonomic keyboard.
It's the product customers have been begging us to do for years - an ERGONOMIC keyboard that gives you all of the tactile feedback, greater comfort, faster typing speeds, and quiet operation of a Matias mechanical keyboard.

We also think it has the best layout of all the ergonomic keyboards so far.

UK Ergo Pro Quiet PC Ergonomic Keyboard - FK403QPC-UK

The best switches.
To put it bluntly, most ergonomic keyboards "cheap out" on their keyswitches. They use rubber, instead of metal. Compromising here can ruin an otherwise good keyboard.

We've used the BEST keyswitches for typing... Matias Quiet Click mechanical switches.

Their ALPS-inspired design delivers generous amounts of tactile feedback, while providing enough resistance to support the weight of your hands - exactly what you need for fast, comfortable typing.

Plus, unlike every other mechanical switch, they are quiet enough to use in office environments. You don't need to worry about disturbing your co-workers.

A better navigation cluster.
Navigation keys have always been a big problem for ergonomic keyboards.

If you follow the standard, the keyboard is too wide.

If you don't follow the standard, there's a long learning curve, and users are stuck having to suffer with an awkward, unfamiliar layout.

We've designed a truly new and better navigation cluster - one that's much closer to standard AND more ergonomic...

We've arranged the navigation keys in their traditional pattern, but we laid them out horizontally, and then positioned them along the bottom row, more like a laptop keyboard.

It works beautifully, and the adjustment time is virtually zero. Try it once, and you'll never want to go back.

Narrower than most & more comfortable with a mouse.
Thanks to our unique navigation cluster, the Ergo Pro is not as wide as other ergonomic keyboards. It's not much wider than a laptop keyboard.

This makes it much more comfortable to use with a mouse. Since you're not reaching as far for it, your elbow doesn't need to flare out at an awkward angle.

Leg supports for tilting & tenting.
As you would expect, the Ergo Pro comes equipped with leg supports for 9° tenting and 4.5° negative tilt. It can also be used flat.

Spacious palm supports.
The palm supports are big and comfortable. Plus, they can be removed, if your desk already has palm supports built-in.

Everything is in the box.
We've included everything you need in the box. There's nothing extra to buy. You are all ready to go.

Dedicated keys for... Cut, Copy, Paste
We've added dedicated hotkeys for the 3 most important keyboard shortcuts - cut, copy, and paste. Best of all, no drivers are required. Everything works, right out of the box.

3 extra USB 2.0 ports.
Some keyboards have 2 USB ports - most have none. We're giving you three! You can plug in flash drives, digital cameras, your mouse, and more.

Laser etched keys.
All those symbols are handy, but what happens when they wear off? They won't. They're laser etched - burned into the keys with a laser - so they'll never wear off.

Sculpted keytops.
The latest trend in keyboards is to have very flat & wide keys, with little or no space between them. You see this a lot on laptops and netbooks. While they look great, they can also be a little tricky to type on. The flatness makes it very easy to slide out of home row and lose your bearings.

The Ergo Pro bucks this trend. It has traditional sculpted keytops, curved to fit your fingertips, and keep you from sliding out of home position.

Audio & media controls.
By holding down the Fn key, you gain access to strategically placed keyboard shortcuts for Volume Up / Down, Mute, Pause / Play, Next Track, and Previous Track.

Ghosts busted.
Most keyboards allow only a few keys to be pressed at once, so they can't keep up with very fast typists. The result is called ghosting - letters missing from what you actually typed, or additional letters that you didn't type.

The Ergo Pro has special Anti-Ghosting Circuitry (also called n-key rollover) to eliminate these problems. You can type as fast as you're able; the Ergo Pro will keep up.

I thought I should write a short review of this fine board after 3 years of usage. In short - buy it. If you are looking for an ergonomic keyboard, if you are a writer or a programmer, just buy it. I have used *many* keyboards in these three years (from various Kinesis ergonomic models, to HHKBs, and everything in between) and have always returned to this one for my every day programming duties. It is very good. But there are also some negatives:

- As always with Matias, their cables leave a lot to be desired. Get an after market connecting cable (Pexon does a very nice one).

- As mentioned before, the layout of the right half is a bit 'weird'. Not ideal, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

- Matias quiet switches, I feel, are not as robust as MXs. I am beginning to experience intermittent issues that are normally solved with a bit of a 'massage'. I expect to have to do this procedure more often in coming monthsyears.

- The far left column of keys is superfluous. Unfortunatelly, it also contains the ESC key which, while quite large, is still too far away to reach without lifting your palm (at least for me). This is the worst offender in an otherwise decent ergo story.

All in all, I will buy another one to stock up in case Matias decides to stop making them.

I adore this keyboard. It is the comfiest and fastest keyboard I've found, which makes a real difference with my software development work. I've been using it since it first arrived in the UK (2015). Having had RSI some years back it is a real joy to find an ergonomic keyboard with this level of quality. Other keyboards feel hard and horrible and wrist-twisting after using this one! The quality gel wrist pads are a great addition too, and keyboards without a numeric keypad are so much nicer in terms of reducing RSI (less shoulder travel from keyboard to mouse). It's also quite nice having a couple of usb slots on the keyboard - I use them surprisingly often as they're conveniently in reach (e.g. to charge my rechargeable mouse whilst still using it, or for camera downloads).

Note if you are like me you will probably move this keyboard around the desk a lot - because one of its really nice RSI-avoiding features is that you can re-position the separate halves at different angles or distances depending on how your wrists feel that day. If you're not careful though over time that moving about may pullplace strain on the usb port on the back of the keyboard where the cable connects. Matias should reinforce it better, and I think that's the reason another reviewer mentions it negatively, but I just put a bit of clear tape over where it plugs in (so it doesn't ever get pulled) which should prevent that ever being an issue.

The keyboard company were incredibly helpful when I had an issue with another keyboard that I had bought from them - I highly recommend them.

Very good keyboard. Keys are quiet and nice to type on. Would be five stars if it wasnt for the weird cable choices and lack of a Mac version for the UK layout. These are only minor issues though, still very happy with my purchase. Well packaged and arrived on time.

I'm a MacBook Pro user. I bought this keyboard because I was starting to get an RSI.

So far so good. KeyboardCo were very helpful advising which product to buy over email.

An excellent keyboard. Super solid build quality and nice to type on.

I'm Mr Injury as far as typing goes - been at it too long and am getting too old for it, so consequently, I've bashed my way through a lot of ergonomic keyboards. This one is something special: a great layout. The cut and paste keys are a great idea. I've got a special RSI just for Ctrl-V! One small gripe the middle ctrl key gets in my way, but I think once incorporated into my technique, it will be fine.

Only one gripe with this keyboard. It's stiff. I had this conversation with Matias themselves before I bought the keyboard. I asserted that with a 60g+ push through to activate this key, it's going to feel heavy - like an MX black. The company replied that no, it won't as it's light after the initial activation. But now, actually owning it, I can verify it's quite a heavy key to use. The linear 35g version would probably suit people like me, but the company don't make this in a UK version ... yet! I've asked them for such a version, we'll see what they come with.

I'm a computer programmer and sometime writer, so my technique is a mix of ctrl combinations and 10 fingered fetter.

I'd give this 5 stars if it was a bit lighter to the touch. The split keyboard will help my ulnar pain, but will inflame my knuckle pain - go figure !

I left a good review for this keyboard before but please ignore it.
The microusb port used to connect the keyboard to the computer broke and now KeyboardCo are refusing to reimburse me for the cost of shipment to get it fixed. Not good service for such an expensive product.

Excellent keyboard, with a few oddities.

- The connecting cable is ugly, short 6cm cable can be purchased from ebayaliexpress.
- The copypaste keys aren't programmable which is a shame given nobody uses them
- Fn and Esc keys are kind of stupidly placed, but you get used to it.
- The palm rests wore in colour fairly quickly after a few weeks
- My model developed a faulty USB connector, but it's being repaired so probably a one-off.
- Mac support is OK

Overall great feel keyboard, I like that it fits in a smaller 13 laptop bag.
