If you prefer a linear switch and you also need to keep the noise to a minimum then this keyboard may be for you.

The quality appears to be top notch!

The keycaps also remind me of the ones used on the old A1048 Apple Keyboards (pre-2007), those were some nice keycaps!

This keyboard does not have many bells and whistles and it does not use any pretentious mechanical switches... sometimes less is more! It uses standard Cherry MX silent switches and is finished to a high quality. I would bet that this keyboard will last and function for years.

I have tried MANY mechanical keyboards over the years and I always find myself coming back to the Filcos for their quality.

I recommend this product.

The Filco Hakua TKL is a beautiful keyboard. It feels sturdy, heavy, dense, very well made and it should last ages. The key caps are ultra thin smooth, the legends are grey not black and in italics. It doesnt affect the functionality at all. But you wont be a fan. The keyboard has no switches anymore nor it comes with the famous key puller or an alternative key caps to switch control and caps lock. So you are done with nothing but the keyboard. Modern Mac OS recognise the Filco as a standard US full layout. After that and switching to US PC in the macOS settings everything works.
There are buts not related with the board, plastics, stability or general quality and sturdiness. The main problem is the switches. Cherry was never the top player in the game but the most simple flimsy and cheaper than the ALPS, IBMs and topped of the world. And if you have experience with those keyboards a nice well build unit like the Filco only brings most noticeable the shortcomings of Cherry stems and switches: they are linear but not smooth, the are thin and wobbly, they do a few things right for a price they dont deserve anymore. You can feel the tiny surface of the stem under the big key, the full finger pressing only a tiny spot. You feel what is the problem with the linear here, you want to raise the finger as soon as you can, there is no pleasure in typing because the feeling is not good. A stem in a topre is hundred of times better, and the surface of the stem is bigger covering more of the underneath of the cap. The weight of the springs seem a bit heavier than I remember, not so light but it is a new keyboard. Im happy with the quality of the keyboard. But it is in the market because you can not find a topre for less than double the price and the main board, chassis and stability in Filco is even better than some expensive Topres I owned.

Feels and sounds amazing with the MX Silent Red switches, even stock! The sound in review videos does not do it justice.

After some weeks of use I'm very happy with this keyboard. The build quality seems robust, and the silent red keys are excellent for office use, quieter than most membrane keyboards while still providing nice feel.
